you could make it yourself

but I am not a big fan of the taste.

I like marzipan better taste wise.

it doesn't come out a "true" white but can be colored just as easily as fondant.

Thanks - I'm not a fan of the taste either, but love how it looks. I've been playing around with it. I read that you can add flavors like butter or vanilla to it when you kneed it before rolling it... Seems like Wilton owns the ready made market though...

I just read that recipe! holy moly -i don't think I can take that on - I tried making buttercream once it was a disaster!

There are other brands! They are just more expensive. Satin Ice is another popular brand....tastes better than Wilton, just as easy to work with, but it's $$$.
I've made my own fondant...and I found it more difficult to work with than the ready made fondant.
You can buy it online, but they also sell it at the Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale. I don't know of any other stores that sell it.

i made fondant with a marshmellow & confectioners sugar - it was my 1st time working with fondant & it was pretty easy & tasty too!
