is your dog good when you walk him/her?
my dog is TERRIBLE when we take her for a walk.. we tried everything.
she just gets so excited and pulls like crazy.. there is no way i can walk her so DH does it all the time..
i can honestly say this is the only real problem we have with her.. we always walked her so its not like we just introduced it to her now.
just curious if Shea is the only bad walker!!

Pre obedience classes - Teemu walked us
Now - he has an awesome heel!
Maybe bring him to a basic obedience class? Doesn't cost too much and heel is the first thing that they usually accomplish

The spike collar is king when it comes to Misty. I don't use it often, but when I do she is on perfect heel. I tend to bring it out when she starts to pull a lot or we go to a public event and I want complete control. And, it doesn't hurt..I've pulled it on myself. It's just a reminder type thing.

Re: is your dog good when you walk him/her?
We have a different form of the same thing as the Halti
It is called the Gentle Leader......It is wonderful. We have a 100lb Rottie and without it I couldn't walk her at all. She would pull me all the way down the street.....Now with this I can walk her with one hand and I don't have to pull on the leash at all......

My dogs are terrible! We have these collars and it only works on one dog, the other one could care less if he's choking himself. Unfortunately b/c they are big dogs we cant walk them and plus they would go after other dogs and squirrels. We tried obeidance school. One dog passed, the other was asked not to come back after day 1

I second this collar! it actually makes going for a walk pleasant.
also, the points look sharper in the picture than they really are.

Cooper is a good walker... he just wants to lift his leg to every tree, poll, large rock... and when I say lift his leg, I mean that's all he does is lift his leg, no pee comes out. I call it faux peeing.

Annie does this too... sometimes I see like 1 drop or nothing at all! Then I laugh at her and she gives me this serious look..

Re: is your dog good when you walk him/her?
The only time we have a problem with her is when we just walk. If we fix her chokers around the neck (just behind her ears at the top of her neck) and hold the leash so she has no give she is good.
Maybe try the harness

Re: is your dog good when you walk him/her?
Ollie is not winning the walking award any time soon. She thinks the middle of the street is a great place to play (we live on a very busy street). She wants to play with dogs that want to eat her, she eats not only her poop but the poop of other dogs and she wants to jump on every pedestrian that walks by, again, busy street.

Halti IMAGE
HIGHLY recomend the Halti!!!! DH and I have been raising/training dogs for years and this makes such a HUGE difference!!!
ETA: the Halti wotks well because it places teh control of the leash on teh dogs snout adn they aren't very strong there and can't fight back. WHile using any modified form of chocke collars you are still trying to control the dog using the strongest part of their body the neck and upper body!

LOL Brutus does the same thing. He pulls for the first block or two and then calms down after that.
One thing though, he won't walk with me on this busy street right by DH's job. I parked far ON PURPOSE so that we could have a nice walk and. . . yes, that was me carrying my 25lb dog down the busy street bc he was freaked out by all the cars.
I know it is bad but since he is in the area all the time with DH we figure it is better that he IS scared of the busy street and will just sit on the sidewalk.

Yes she is so good.. I never had a problem except she really doesnt go nuts and get excited to go for a walk.. She is ok once I get her out there but as soon as she see 's the leash she runs and hides its so bizzare..

I have one that's great and one that pulls constantly, b/c she wants to run, not walk. The good one on the leash is good b/c he and I did dog school together.

Sandy is terrible on leash...and my vet said she needs to lose some weight so I think I may try a class and then start walking her once a day. After work, I am sure she would love it

Otis does the same thing!! We laugh at him all the time! He can be embarrassing when we walk him if we don't let him go over to another dog walking he goes crazy like he is getting murdered.

Katie has been known to have "panic attacks" when walking with my parents dog. One time I had to carry her a 1/2 mile in my beach bag. She's 17lbs. She loved it though.
