Isn't it time that Nader is allowed in the debates?
I wish they would give him more of a forum....

Re: Isn't it time that Nader is allowed in the debates?
I'm conflicted. I think the two-party system has its flaws. But I don't think Narder has a chance. He may have cost Gore the election in 2000, and while the past is the past, would things be worse if Gore had won it? I don't think so.

I agree
it's a shame- but he has the potential to do more harm then good- as much as I like him

I get what you are saying...I just hate the fear factor.
Dems have kept him down, yet last 8 years were out the window anyway.
I would love for mainstream America to hear him.

I don't think Nader has a chance of winning. I strongly believe in having more than 2 parties.
My concern would be McCain would take the White House because of the split vote with Obama.

Re: Isn't it time that Nader is allowed in the debates?
but it is something to fear
elections are so close now- rarely someone wins by a landslide
Nader is never going to get the popular vote- so what would be the point?
All he is going to do is take undecided votes away from the dems- not from the republicans
people that would vote for Nader would not vote republican anyway IMHO

normally, but I feel this election, so many are in the middle...so many strongly against Obama that weren't head strong Republicans, this election would have been a great time to truely include a 3rd party.

Re: Isn't it time that Nader is allowed in the debates?
I am one of those people
I am not in love with Obama
but I wont cross party lines
so Nader would be an option for me
but if everyone like me voted for Nader
we would end up with McCain as President
which I want less then I want Obama
so I have to go with the lesser of the 2 evils and vote for Obama

Same here. I just feel like he's taking votes away from the Dem. frontrunner.

I guess I just feel like this fear is going to hold us back...I understand what you are saying, it just never seems like its going to be the "right" time.

yes, it does have it flaws and that's why we need more parties and candidates up there. but sadly, unless you're connected and willing to spend MILLIONS of dollars, you don't have a chance and that's sad. the last 2 elections and this one, will be extremely close. i think that alone is America screaming, "we're not satisified with either candidate!"
the system needs to be fixed... big time.

Re: Isn't it time that Nader is allowed in the debates?
Nothing upsets me more about being an American than the lack of choice that we have in electing a leader. This 2 party system is so contrary to our founding priniciples. And, the fact that it is so heavily reliant on private campaign funds means that the rich (and easily pursuaded) will always stay in power. We, the voters are simple pawns without substantial choice or influence. I'm not comfortable picking 'the lesser of two evils' for something as important as the leader of a nation. So of course, I think that Nader should be part of the debates. Anyone who is legitimately running for this office should be included. It's so effed up I can't spend too much time thinking about it. I'm embarrased for us.

Re: Isn't it time that Nader is allowed in the debates?
Do I think he should be heard? Yes. Do I think he will win? No. Do I think by him being in the race we will end up with the wrong guy? Probably. I have not fully formed an opinion as to why I would choose one candidate over another. To be honest, the only guy I think I WOULD vote for is THIS guy. I like HIS party!
