Issues at Daycare - Update, I went and checked on him
So it was Elijah's first day and I called the daycare three times, and all times they said Elijah was doing well. Well I rushed to pick him up and when I got there, he was in his crib hysterically crying. I walked in and picked him before I saw the girl on the other side of the room. There was only one other child there and she was playing, I couldn't understand why she couldn't attend to him. I was so upset, I took Elijah straight home. I told my DH when he came home and by that time I was really upset.
DH talked to the morning teacher and she said she would talk to the girl and that having him cry was completely unacceptable. I called her this moring and she had already talked to the director and both the director and herself would talk to the girl in the afternoon. This girl is not the normal girl, but filling in for the lady who is on vacation.
This really sucks, DH and I are having a difficult time dealing with the fact that Elijah has to go to daycare in the first place, but the first day is making it so much harder.
Update: So I just came back from checking in on him. He seems liked his very happy self. He seemed happy to see me and I was so glad I could sneak away to see him. The teacher is having the girl work with Elijah more today so I am feeling much better. The girl seems very nice and seems like she just made a mistake. I told them I would drop by when I can and that my mom would drop by as well. Hopefully this will keep all in check.

Re: Issues at Daycare
I would follow up with the director to find out the outcome. I am sure they will talk with her and I would want to know what her rationale was-that's not right

Re: Issues at Daycare
How close to work is daycare? I'd see if your boss would let you either take a long lunch or leave a little early and make some surprise visits. It seems like the director plans on making sure it doesn't happen again.

Re: Issues at Daycare
Hopefully this was just a one time deal. You did the right think and I'm sure the center will make sure this doesn't happen again.

Re: Issues at Daycare
hang in there. Leaving your DC with anyone is tough. Hopefully things will get better now that the director is involved.

I plan to go up there today. I'm not that far about 15 minutes away. My mom has also volunteered to check on him from time to time.
I am hoping this was just a one time thing.

Re: Issues at Daycare
I am so sorry. My heart breaks reading this. That is completely unacceptable.
I have to go back to work next month as well and thinking about DS crying when I'm not there to tend to him makes me so sad.

I'm sure it was and I would have acted the same way. I would have also asked the director if the girl that was filling in for the other women was licensed or whatever is required when watching kids. Just saying knowing that I would have reacted the same way as you I would be curious to know. Can you imagine if she wasnt ?!? Sorry not trying to add to upset there. I would pop in as much as I can and I think it's great that your mom will stop in too from time to time.
You DS needs to feel safe there and by them not attending to him when he's upset is not making him feel the "warmth" he deserves
If something else happens upon your visits I would want my money back and look somewhere else.

I'm glad it went well when you stopped by. I hope you feel better. Try not to stop in at the same time everyday. Did you talk to the girl that was "watching" him yesterday?

I'm glad they are addressing your concerns. It's hard enough to leave them, you need to feel confident that they are handling the issue.

I did not talk to the girl outside of hello and have a good day. I honestly don't know what to say to her. It seemed the morning teacher did say something to her and I am hoping that this was a one time incident. We are new there and I really don't want to rock the boat.
