It's over.
Today was my first OB appointment at 9w1d and there was no heartbeat. He said the baby stopped developing 3-4 days ago. I'm in such a state of shock right now. I have pre-surgical testing today for a D&C on Monday. I'm terrified, what should I expect?
Thank you all for the suppprt during my short stay here.

I am so sorry, my heart sunk when I read this post. When I had a mc I did not have a dnc so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm sorry

I am so sorry.
From what I remember, my pre-surgical testing consisted of bloodwork, and gathering of some medical history. I can't recall anything else.
On the day of the actual D&C, my doctor and the anesthesiologist came to talk to me about what was going to happen, then I was wheeled down to the OR, where I was put out. Everything was pretty quick, and I didn't feel too badly afterwards, physically speaking. Emotionally was another story, of course. I never had very heavy bleeding after.

Thank you everyone! I really can't believe this is happening, but I guess this is the sad reality of IF. We are so lucky to have our DS, so we will be hugging him extra tight today.

Thanks so much! Everything my OB was saying to me pretty much sounded like "wah wah wah wah", so I really have no idea what will happen. I've never been put under before, so that part is scaring me more than anything else right now!

You aren't under for that long so you should be fine. I was a little nauseas after my laparoscopy and D&C but I just slept it off and was fine. And that was about 1.5 hr surgery with the lap. D&C alone is less time.

That is what scared me too, but it was okay. To be totally honest, when the anesthesiologist started talking to me, I started sobbing. Somehow, all my emotions got channeled into my worry about being put under. I woke up in the recovery room feeling pretty alert pretty quickly.

Re: It's over.
Don't worry about being put under. I know everyone reacts differently but from my personal experience (I have been put under twice) the Anastesia has been a piece of cake. No nausea and always allows me to get good rest that day. I wake up tired that's all. I'm sorry again Hun. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: It's over.
I'm so sorry For me the D& C was no problem, I had pain afterwards but I have other medical issues that caused those complications. The anesthesia was a breeze, and I had it done at Winthrop, the staff were absolutely amazing. The presurgical testing was basically a million questions and some blood work but nothing really too bad. The worst part is the emotions. Many prayers for you

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. Hugs always make things a bit better...
physically the D&C was pretty "easy"...emotionally was the hardest part.
My thoughts and prayers are with you

Re: It's over.
I am so, so sorry.
I had a D&C in September after a loss at 10 weeks. The procedure was quick and I had virtually no pain afterwards. As others have said, the emotional pain is the worst part. Hang in there.
