IUD question...UPDATE-Thanks everybody!
I got one last Thursday. I've been experiencing a lot of pain and it's just been getting increasingly worse. I checked it and I can only feel one of the threads. I called my gyno and they can't give me an appointment until next Thursday (25th). Maybe I'm crazy, but shouldn't there be a little bit more of a concern? Isn't this serious or am I just being paranoid?
UPDATE: I called the office this morning and spoke directly with the doctor. I went in and ended up having the IUD removed, because I had a bad infection. I'm on antibiotics now and already feeling better. Thanks again for the advice and hugs.

Re: IUD question...
I have the Mirena and never had any pain. I would call back and stress its an emergency, you want to be seen as soon as they can take you. I hope its nothing

Re: IUD question...
I would not accept an appointment for next week. I would be telling the receptionist that it is an emergency, as you are in ALOT of pain and it is increasing. Even go into the office and refuse to leave until seen if you have to.

I had a ton of pain right after I got mine in. I would ask for an immediate appointment it could be getting infected.

Re: IUD question...
Thanks for your responses everybody. I have the Paragard. I guess the Mirena's a lot more common, but my gyno is a little old school. My doctor wasn't even in yesterday, but I'm going to call today and ask to speak with him directly. The secretaries in that office always blow me off no matter what (They did a few times when I had problems during my pregnancies). The pain's not as bad today, but I'm still worried that I can only feel one of the threads. I'll update later on. Thank you all again!
ETA: I've also gotten so bloated that I'm up two whole pant-sizes. That's not a side effect that I've read about, but I don't usually bloat with my periods or anything, so I'm concerned about that too.

All he said was that it was PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) and that it just happens to be one of the side effects. They don't always remove the IUD because of it, but I was in so much pain, I'd rather find another method of birth control. Thanks
