IUI # 3 a bust
I am handling this a lot better than I thought. I of course am stiill upset, but I guess I am just used to the routine by now. I am going to talk to my dr. he mentioned that he wanted me to do a laparoscopy if this cycle failed. Anybody have that done?

Thanks! I took some time off of LIfamilies and searching the internet all day.. i was becoming obsessed. I needed a break. But, I am back on full swing!

Im sorry. I have had a laparoscopy. They take a camera and insert it through your bellybutton and look around at your ovaries and uterus. Thats where they found out I had endometriosis and just cleaned it out. It did not show up on sonos so it was a good thing I had it done. It was not bad at all. You just feel alittle crampy after. They also fill you up with gas so they can see inside you better and that was uncomfortable afterwards. The gas is trying to escape so it hurt around my ribcage. The nurses told me to microwave gingerale and drink it warm so you could release the gas. I think I took off the day of and the next 2 days after because I wasn't sure what to expect. Its not painful just uncomfortable. Good luck.

I am sorry your IUI failed. I never had a lap but I can tell you that my RE did not do exploratory laps. Instead he recommended IVF after a few failed IUI's.

Is there a reason why he does not reccomend a Lap? are there benefits to doing it?

Hey---I've been wondering where you've been too but figured maybe u needed a break from here!
I'm sorry that your 3rd one didn't work. Doesn't it suck that it doesn't hurt so much now---it's almost like u come to expect that it won't work? It's hard to stay positive sometimes.
I didn't have a laparoscopy but I guess ANY test is helpful bc it can rule out another issue or find a problem that they can work to resolve.

Sorry about the IUI.
I had a lap done to find and remove endometriosis they knew I had. It doesn't show up unless you do the surgery. I agree about the gas pains afterwards- I had them in my shoulders. That was the worst part, though, and only lasted a little while.

The benefits are that you find something...like listed below.
The risks are that it's a real surgery...and can cause adhesions (which can result in infertitlity).
My RE also recommended IVF after IUI...but I think it is really patient-dependent.
