IUI: OB/GYN vs. RE Office
I think our next step is an IUI. My DH's SA came back great.
When I spoke to Kofinas' office, they said that Pillitteri can do the IUI but it is just taking the Sprem and inserting it--no washing.
I could also go to an RE and have it done there where they would wash the sperm.
Since DH's sperm is fine, I am not sure which route I should go.
Any advice?

I haven't done iui yet but I would think the RE. Only because that's their job and they are better equipped for those types of procedures.

Re: IUI: OB/GYN vs. RE Office
I would definitely say RE office because when they do it there they "wash" it. If the obgyn does it and does not wash it are you sure it is an iui or is it just insemination at cervical level? I don't think you can use unwashed sperm for intrauterine insem because it still contains chemicals that cause muscular contractions, pain and cramping, and can cause an infection.

I agree, plus they will closely monitor you. I've heard the obgyns don't do as many monitoring appts.
Best of luck!

Looooooove them!!! I go to RSoNY in stony brook. Can't say enough great things about the office!! Dr Lydic is my primary but I have also seen Dr Bronson, Dr Stelling (everyone loves him), and Dr Halfen.

Besides the fact that it is busier than stony brook and some ladies seem to have a long wait, I've read that everyone likes that office also.

Stelling and Halfen are great. Had an IUI with each of them. You don't get to pick just depends on who is on that day.

IUI: OB/GYN vs. RE Office
Thanks everyone! I made an appointment with Dr. Saketos for next week. It looks like I won't be able to try an IUI this cycle but hopefully next!

I prefer Dr. Sung in RSoNY Mineola. She's very proactive and matter of fact which I need in a DR. I saw Saketos also and liked her but she was a bit too laid back for me and I couldn't get good direction from her. All the Drs are great there and if you don't like one, you can get a second opinion from any of the others! FM me if you have any questions.

Re: IUI: OB/GYN vs. RE Office
By the way, bring all records of recent blood work, sonos and DH's SA so they don't repeat. They need all if the info to determine your treatment.

Thanks! I was going to have Dr. Kofinas' Office give me a copy or fax it over to them.
