Re: IVF - Deciding how many embryos
Your responses and stories are heartwarming. It's amazing how we all have the same goal but the journeys can be so completely different. I appreciate you all opening up your lives to share with very confused to-be IVF'r We are leaning toward putting back 2...if we're lucky enough to have 2 of good quality. I know we'll be okay no matter what happens. I'm a true believer of what was meant to be will be. To all that have their beautiful little ones - congratulations! To those that don't YET, stay positive and lots of to you all :)

IVF - Deciding how many embryos
I would do two. That's what we did. We were not advised to put in more since I was relatively young at the time (28) and we only had MF issues the doctor didn't want us ending up with multiples. We put back two blasts (ICSI) and got pregnant with 1 girl. I wouldn't do one.

Re: IVF - Deciding how many embryos
Our first IVF we put in one embryo. I am currently 17 weeks pregnant. There was no way I wanted to risk getting pregnant with twins.

Re: IVF - Deciding how many embryos
We put back 2 the first three times, always ending in a singelton M/C. third time we put back 3, all three took. 10w we lost baby c
This is my advice, do not put back more than you want, period. Listen to me carefull, It reallly CAN HAPPEN TO YOU. lmao
Multiples are a TON of work, and there are many risks to carrying more than one baby, for you and them. When DH and I talk about doing another cycle I am FIRM in only putting one back.
I was FINE with twins or whatever God gave me, and to be honest, my boys are really good, and most times EASY ! but now that i have two, i know i want only ONE more. finacially reasons mostly. I want to continue to stay home, DH would send me back on the LIRR with any more than 3, so 3 it is !

IVF - Deciding how many embryos
We wanted to start as simply as possible and then go on from there. The idea of multiples was tempting for us for several reasons and it was hard but for our first cycle we said no ICSI, no assisted hatching, and 1 embryo (we like to say we did it "naturally"). We got 24 eggs to fertilize and our one embryo took and I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow. BUT.......we did not have any diagnosis to advise against our decisions and I am under 30. We took a gamble with a few things but it all worked out. Also, I felt better about only transferring one the first time knowing I had 20 frosties waiting for me.

Re: IVF - Deciding how many embryos
Put in 2. One stuck. Felt sorry for the other one! We just decided by maximizing chances of getting pregnant.
