IVF and work?
So I finally told my boss yesterday that we will be doing IVF. I didn't go into a lot of detail with him, only that I will have some morning appointments and then I will need some time off for the ER/ET. But then I got thinking about everything and I might want to take a leave of absence while I go through this. I work 13 hour shifts at the hospital so I am on my feet all day long and it can get pretty stressful as I am on alone at times and cover the whole building. I also have to lug heavy equip all over the building. So I figured this all wouldn;t be very good while going through the stims and then of course the ER/ET. Has anyone ever taken time off from work like that during an IVF cycle? Also is this covered under the FMLA? We can afford the paycut for the small leave time so it's sounding really tempting. Not to mention we live 1 1/2 hours away from the clinic and I know when we start the stims I'll be up there very often. I plan on speaking to the RE about this and see what she reccomends but I figured I would see what the norm is over here. Thanks

Re: IVF and work?
I believe it is covered under FMLA. You should FM Barb (nthshrgrl) She is in HR and knows a lot about FMLA. BUT if you use your FMLA now it woudl take away from when you had the baby I think

I think you are right.
Do you have days off available to you at work? Maybe, take a week off? And during your stimming, is there anyone else who could carry the heavy equipment for you?
Good Luck with whatever you decide!
