IVF meds question
What is dexamethasone?
I'm supposed to take menopur with dexamethasone (sp?- sorry can't read the handwriting well on my calendar).
Then on the 5th night add in Ganirelix each night for the rest of the time that I'm stimming.
I know menopur is for stimming. What are the others? This is a very different protocol than I thought they'd put me on, based on how I responded to the lupron/gonal-f last time- but I'm willing to try whatever they think will work the best. TIA!

dex is a steroid that will reduce swelling
Ganerelix will stop you from ovulating

Do you think that is to help you avoid OHSS? Wondering why you'd take your steroid now. I was on a steroid after ER b/c of the assisted hatching. Its so weird how every RE is totally different. I guess just to confuse us all.

Maybe- that's what I was thinking when Lisa said what it was. (BTW Thanks LisaW! ) They're having me start on that while I'm stimming...

some RE's have you do dex while you stim...and some just have you do medrol after ER

LIIVF had me do the dexamethasone while I was stimming. I took it at night before bed. I only stimmed for 7 days so started Ganerelix on day 5 and only did it for 2 days.

MOST People do Dex when stimming. Its a standard protocol.
Also, When on the grant, many Clinics have to use whatever medication is cheapest as tahts what the grant allows for, so your protocol might be diff. for that reason.
ex...I was on BRavelle for mine and most at my clinic werent.
