IVF moms...

Seems like a few people who did IVF originally were very lucky and blessed to become PG naturally afterwards!

I'm curious to see who (if you are open to sharing) and if you think having DC#1 changed your body in some way...I've heard so many amazing stories on here and outside of LIF....it is really inspiring! Chat Icon

Re: IVF moms...

Not me, but my cousin. She had to go through IVF to have her DS. Then she got pregnant naturally not too long after her DS was born. I think her DS and DD are about 17 months apart!

I think Kissy was one of those success stories.

For myself, I needed IVF and went through a lot for both my first pregnancy and this one. Chat Icon

Re: IVF moms...

I agree that those stories are inspiring. Unfortunately, I highly doubt I will be one of those lucky ladies seeing as I have had only one period (using provera) since DD was born 13 months ago.Chat Icon

Re: IVF moms...

I became pregnant in May(about 2.5 years after my IVF) Unfortunately, I had the same experience I always did when trying naturally-early loss. I think for people that had unexplained IF they are probably the ones who get PG after IVF. I have tubal and immune issues so I don't think that will work for meChat Icon

Re: IVF moms...

Not IVF but clomid/trigger/IUI - interestingly after DC were born I had pretty regular periods. However, we did try for 6 months on our own, and nothing. SO although I was getting periods, I don't think I was ovulating. We were lucky enough to get pregnant the first cycle back on clomid/trigger/IUI.

Re: IVF moms...

I had Noah through IVF....2 and 1/2 years of timed trying, 13 iui's...first IVF worked.

Never in a million years thought I'd get PG naturally ever. After my 6 week OB appointment when the OB asked what Iw anted for Birth control, I laughed and said, "for what?" and he said crazier things have happened.

And then it did..I got PG naturally and unexpected....but unfortunatly M/C'ed at 14 weeks due to a chromosonal problem.

5 months later I got PG naturally again...With my twins Chat Icon

Miracles happen, but yes I truly believe that Noahs birth did something to my hormones to correct at leats that aspect of my Infertility. It had to have....

Eta- My cousin had 8 m/c's, tried for 13 years to get PG with 4-5 IVF's before finally getting PG...and 2 years after got PG naturally and had another healthy baby.

Re: IVF moms...

Everyone says "oh, the next one I'm SURE you'll get PG naturally". I think it works when the IF issues are with the woman, but we are dealing with sperm/morphology issues. The DH doesn't go through any changes, so I don't think it applies to my situation.

Re: IVF moms...

My RE explained it in a way I understood....most people with fertility issues dont have a zero percent chance of conceiving naturally...so say a couple has a 5-10 percent chance of conceiving naturally.....if you try long enough (most of us arent willing to wait 10 years to conceive) you will likely get lucky....if you have a 5-10 percent chance of rolling a six lets say, if you roll that die long enough, eventually you will roll the six.

You're right, I am one of those stories.

DS#1 was an IVF baby due to male factor. We were told that there was no way we would have children on our own due to the inability of DH's sperm to swim & also that the morphology was extremely poor.

When DS#1 was 3 months old, I got pregnant with DS#2. When I took the pregnancy test, I thought there was NO way & that is why we didn't use protection. Low & behold, I gave birth to a very healthy yet premature little boy 10.5 months after #1. DS#2 was suppose to be born the day after DS#1's first birthday via c-section.

Right now we will not be trying for success #2 on our own Chat Icon

It would be great... but I'm not trying the natural route for too long.

IMO its like when you hear those success stories when people relaxed and stopped worrying and then got pregnant on their own. I believe it could happen, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Re: IVF moms...

I did IVF 3x and finally got pregnant on the last try with my son- I had the fertility issues, not my husband.

OBGYN wanted to put me on birth control and I laughed at him.

Well now my son is 8 months old and I am 8 weeks pregnant with #2- we weren't even trying!

Everyone always said to me, oh just wait I bet you will get pregnant on your own and I NEVER thought it would happen for me, but it did. So crazy things do happen!
