IVF Protocol Question?

Hi, I am a semi regular poster but I am always reading this board. I am starting my first IVF cycle and my RE has me starting with 200 Follistim only. I start tonight and go back on Saturday for a check-in and I guess to increase/regulate meds. After reading some IVF journals it seems like most girls start with a few meds/shots. I actually only talked to the nurse today but I'm pretty sure the doctor left my plans with her. I have plenty of other medications at my house already. I'm just wondering if it is common to start with only one medication?? My doctor is not conservative at all! Any opinions or experience would be appreciated

Also my infertility is unexplained.

I think it depends on protocol. they were going to start me on just 175 gonal but ended up changing to 300 gonal b/c I had follies already forming. then they added menopur later. Those (and lupron) were the only drugs I took as far as stims.

it varies so much...for me i always started with 150 IU Gonal F and 75 IU Repronex then a few days later added Ganirelix.

I have done 5 with different protocols..

My first 2 cycles were with Follistim only (plus Lupron to make sure I don't O)...

next 2 were with Follstim & menupur (and Lupron again)....and my last one they had me on Ganirelix and no Lupron...I averaged the same amount of eggs on all 5 but quality was better when we added Menopur....

Only Follstim is fine as long as you are on Lupron (or Ganirelix) to stop you from ovulating before ER..

i think it varies from person to person..besides my normal meds we only started with 375 gonal and just added ganirelix
