J-Lo's room is between $750-850 a night
Ok so as a follow up to our discussion the other day about the private rooms at NSUH why would I spend $600 a night when I can get so much more for $150 more a night?

If I had it, Id spend it juast as I would with anything else. Its the same as a car - nobody NEEDS a Mercedes, but they are really nice to have.

Come to think of it, I am simply hoping for the window side of my room when its time. I dont want people walking past me.

that's cool...she has the money for it! I didn't even know that existed in NSUH! My parents have both been patients there and we never even heard about it...not that we would b/c we don't have that kind of money! And I thought the hospice rooms on the cancer floor were rather nice!

ooo-fah with the j-lo posts.
Is anyone else tired of this one yet? Its like she's the only one who ever had a baby.
to the OP - I'm just fed up with hollywoodies acting like they are more important. C'mon - you have to admit she isn't even talented.
Ok - Done venting...

Ok - Done venting... I agree...Yes I am happy that she has healthy babies and I know that she went to great measures to get pregnany....but it's not like she is the only woman who has ever given birth.
I just feel bad for the poor women and their families who are giving birth at NSUH this week

Re: J-Lo's room is between $750-850 a night
I've heard of people (not a celebrity) paying more for a private room at some hospitals so that's really not so bad.

that's a good thing to hope for. every time my neighbor walked past my bed she pulled the curtain with her - coming and going. it was really annoying.

I'm glad you guys didn't get offended my my vent
I don't think I'd want a private room... my mom is still very good friends with her 'roomate' from the hospital. My sister and her son were born on the same day.
This June will be the anniversary of their meeting - it has been a 30 year friendship.

Re: J-Lo's room is between $750-850 a night
I am not at all offended by your post. I agree with you about all of the posts about her. I was just shocked that a suite is only $150 more than a private room there. IMO if you have $600 a night then you can afford $750 a night and you get so much more with the suite. So I was just commenting on why would anyone do the private room when they get so much more with a suite.
I personally have no problem at all with J-Lo spending the money on it. If I were her I would spend whatever I had to for my privacy at a hospital. And I would spend whatever I had to spend to be comfortable. As long as she's paying the hospital she can get whatever she wants.

When my mom went in for her pre-surgical testing for stomach surgery we were looking at the brochure and she actually thought about doing it until she was told the price. It would have been nice, though, that's for sure!

Well, I did have the bed by the window

You guys should move to NJ.
What they described in the article was exactly what I got when I delivered.
They are all private rooms. More closet space than I have in my whole house.
A fold out bed for DH. Artwork covered the medical equipment. Free wireless internet.
Really good take-out menu for both me and DH (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
And my favorite part: free post-natal massage.
Didn't pay a penny more than anyone else.
They had to force me out.

Re: J-Lo's room is between $750-850 a night
I had to pay $220 per night (out of my pocket!!!) at Winthrop for a private room. Best expense of my entire pregnancy. I could not get a private room the 1st night and I had a nightmare roomate. I would do it again for #2. The peace and quiet was great for the recovery of a c-section and BFing.

seriously, I delivered at Morristown where they just redid the whole maternity ward to include ONLY private rooms. Marble bathroom, foldout for DH, flatscreen tv, awesome lounge area. Crazy!!! And I didn't pay extra either since private is all they offered. Not sure where you deliverd. Maybe St. Clares because I know they redid also around the same time. I did the massage too but didn't get it until a few weeks after because my hospital visit was too short. Ahhhhhhhh.

what's that all about? I was only given 12 total. did i miss out on something??? Probably moot anyway, I needed to get back to work. But I do remember at my last job woman were taking up to like 6 months and mentioned something to me about NJ having a loophole but my HR dept at my current job told me it was only 12.

I am so glad to be at my hospital in NC...all the rooms are private with their own shower and very pretty too. I have my DH for massages and getting me the food I'd want to eat!

They just redid Southampton Hospital as well and almost every room on the maternity floor is private with its own bathoroom and shower and flatscreen tv. I'm happy I won't have to pay extra, that's a lot of $$
