I love the meaning behind the name and seriously at least it's a name. I bet Apple, Blue Bear, Story, and Clemintine would all rather have that
When I heard she was having a girl the very first name I thought of for her was Molly. I don't know why, but it just seemed like that would be the perfect name for her daughter. I can see them calling her Maxie, but like my mom said she will forever be known as Maxie Pad
On a side note....I owe a LIFer $1 since she FINALLY released that baby from her womb
I'm very happy for them and hope that they are enjoying these precious days

So it IS a girl? But her name is Maxwell?  That's just DUMB! That's really the only word for it!
Then again, it could have been worse. They could have named her Chicken (of the Sea).

I'm confused. Are some people being so harsh and judgey because she's famous?
Because "normal" people use boys' names as girls' names all the time (Elliot, Brett, etc.) and it's kind of the girl code that we all avoid judging too harshly, lest we be thought of as rude and nasty.

I don't think it's bc she is famous. I just seriously never heard of or imagined naming a girl Maxwell. It sounds so completely boyish to me that it's odd. Brett, Drew, Elliot, etc are all within the realm that they are used for a girl or boy. No, I wouldn't say that to someone's face, but this is celebrity gossip and I highly doubt JS is following what we think of her name choice.

I think the in touch was the one I was looking at this week in the food store. It said she was going to have a c-section because she was having anxiety about childbirth (I scanned it quickly so I could be wrong)

OK magazine is known to do that. Basically, the article will be about how excited she is, how she thinks the baby will be, how her first days will be, who will be there visiting, etc.
Very tricky.
Ah ha! Clever. I don't usually read OK, but the one time I did it was a misleading headline like that. Damn them!

Elliott is a FAR cry from Maxwell, IMO. I could name one woman and one guy named Elliott off the top of my head. My friend is pregnant right now and she's having a girl and they are naming her Riley. That's another name I'd consider to be unisex. I'd tell her the same damn thing if she wanted to name her baby girl Maxwell Drew though.

I don't like the name myself, but it is not as bad as it could be. Certainly not as bad as her cousin's name.
I think there are lots of boy names that have become unisex over the years--Alex, James, Ryan...
I have a girl named Camryn. I think it's really feminine, but plenty of people who hear it over the phone assume she's a boy.

I agree. A friend just had a baby yesterday and I think the name is ridiculous, but I would never tell her that! lol

I think it's kind of cute. Not something I'd have picked, but I certainly prefer it to Apple or Morracan or any of the myriad of other strange celebrity children names.
