Jewish Moms to be, and other superstitious ladies...
I know that I keep saying that I won't bring anything into the house before the baby is born, but realistically, people keep telling me that we'll need at least a few things to have ready for the baby's first few days here.
So, how are you handling this? Are there only certain items you will bring in or do you have something set up so that a specific person will bring things in for you while you're in the hospital? And what things are the most necessary for those first few days?

I am not Jewish, and I already have stuff in my house for the baby. BUT I wanted to stay that I think that maybe you should ask your parents or your ILs if you can keep stuff at their house until the baby is born. My boss is Jewish and that is what she said she'd do.

I am not PG yet, but nothing except a paint job will be in my home before our first is born. My sister had anything she needed at my mothers house or held at the store where she purchased her layette and it was picked up and washed before she brought it home.

I am jewish but I got things ready before hand - I am not one to wait for the last minute. Besides there is not way DH could get things done while I was in the hospital.

Re: Jewish Moms to be, and other superstitious ladies...
I comed from a very SUPErstitious Italian family, and DH comes from an italian superstitious/JEwish family, so if i had a thought of bringing stuff in the house our parents freaked!
we Kept things at my moms house and in our garage.
The only things we set up here against their wishes was the furniture and clothes she would need the first couple weeks along with baby gear like PNP, bouncy seat, stroller, but I didn't set it up until the latest possible minute.
If we left it up to our parents, they were going to be here the night i had the baby to set up the crib and wash clothes!

I'm Jewish and was in teh same boat as you. I bought some stuff from Target (towels, pj's, onsies, etc...) a few weeks before. I also had the basinette and some clothes (borrowed from my sister) the week before I gave birth. I also bought her a few clothes from the Baby gap. I just kept everything i bags and didn't set anything up.
Everything was fine! I had a scheduled C-section and now I have a healthy beautiful baby girl who will turn 8 months next week.

dont let yourself be totally unprepared. DD is 1 week old and we dont have any furniture. Its not being delivered until january. In the meantime, we have the bassinett, we did buy diapers, wipes, towels, onsies etc...in advance. Honestly, I think its easier not to do things this way and totally be prepared but we followed tradition that we were both raised with.
