I have curly hair. I feel like people always try to straighten their hair, but I am a firm believer in doing what your hair wants to do....it's just healthier. Honestly, all the celebrities have stick straight hair...does anyone remember Nicole Kidman's hair in Days of Thunder or Felicity's hair before she straighted it all the time?? I personally think both those celebs look better with their beautiful, natural curls but for some reason society dictates that straight is more attractiveChat Icon

Because I'm hair impaired. I'm hoping this will give me a chance at not having 80's hair.

I got sold on all the hype from everyone talking about it. I'm going thurs morning and I cannot wait. Today was a horrendous hair day for me...especially after it rained. Hopefully these days will soon be over. I just hope it doesn't damage my hair. Although it gets frizzy at times, my hair is pretty healthy.

I agree - and my hair in naturally curly. I wash, put in some mousse and hairspray and airdry everyday. Just as easy as the ladies who did JHS.

none of it's good for your hair, obviously. just saying i wish more people wouldn't feel pressured into straightening, and would learn how to "tame" their curls Chat Icon

I actually don't think I, personally, was "pressured" into straightening. I liked my curls - when they used to be more uniform and spiraly. But after I cut it short, for some reason they never quite grew back the same. I also tend to play with my hair a lot, and the curls - did not like that at all!!
Besides, like everyone else, sometimes change is fun. Maybe after a while I'll get bored of this and try my curls again. Who knows? That's part of the fun of hair - it grows back!!Chat Icon

I just think it's trendy right now, like eyebrow threading. Maybe you weren't necessarily pressured into it - I am all about doing something new and fun...to each their own...just posting my opinion.

I would go for a consult first to see what they say. But, I saw my guy do some one's hair like yours - and it was very long too - and it came out great. As far as I know, you will be fine. You may have to have touch ups done every 5-6 months if it comes our of your scalp very very curly right away.

Some people don't have nice even perfect curls. I had frizz. Believe me, I tried every mousse and hairspray out there, it would never come out looking good, unless I spent an hour fixing it.
I have been blowdrying and ironing my hair straight for years. So for me this isn't a "trend". If I didn't do the JHS I would still be blowdrying/ironing. It just saves me a lot time.

*snips off a curl for red* there, now you have a curl, best of luck maintaining it. Chat Icon

i know a friend who got jhs and she looked worse after so I am going to keep straightening my hair the old fashioned way. i also know ppl that looked worse after nose jobs, so i am scared of doing anything to change my natural self.

I also think it depends on the type of curls you have. My hair is naturally very curly. Some peoples hair is somewhere in between and frizzy or wavy so it makes sense for them to get it done.

Hey, if I had Nicole Kidman or Kerri Russel's curls, I might love them too (of course having a hairstylist on call might help also!Chat Icon )

This is EXACTLY what my hair is like. Curly, wavy and it needs mousse, gel, and airdrying to look decent which then eventually turns into frizz. That alone probably isnt good for my hair.
And this morning, I straightened hair, 1/2 of blowing and flat ironing and still has some minor frizz.

So, Im looking into JHS! I love how I look with straight hair. Im not sure I will miss my curls.
Plus, I would love to be able to shorten any time i spend on my hair.
