Chemo and radiation are so interesting to me. Some people get it and are walking around town, haniging with friends, going to work ect. and Yet others, like me, are toe up stuck in bed. In my company we have had 4 people going thru this one. Two go to work like not a thing in the world. then there is is me and last is a woman who passed
I can't begin to commiserate with you on that....my mom went through two chemo treatments and was pretty much okay....She was going through the radiation when I went into the hospital (my family knows how to have a good time) and it has kicked her azz. She is a total mess....I can't begin to spend enough time with her cuz I keep thinking she's not going to make it. She can't even take a shower most days. Yet, as you say - my friend came to work almost every day.
I think that a lot has to do with how much of whatever treatment you are getting. Obviously, I don't know much - but I see how it affects everyone differently and I can only come up with the fact that it acts different on different people. My mom has lost over 30 pounds, yet my friends mom gained 40........

Re: Juney- Debg post
gerty, I had extra weight on from JAG but I did Chemo once a week for two months and I did radiation twice a day, everyday for nearly two months (62 treatments I thihnk). I lost about 70 pounds and was put on a feeding tube because I couldn't eat on my own. If I can do it, so can your mom!!!

Wow....see what I don't understand is how they figure out what to do for who... I am praying she doesn't have to go on a feeding tube...she has had to have IV fluids replaced six times already.

Yeah, I do know that...she is 60 and has stomach cancer... my friend was 40 with breast cancer and it's all different protocol... it jsut amazes me how they figure out how to treat each person individually.
