Jury Duty
What happens when you don't respond to those questionaires they send you in the mail?
I recently got a form saying that I have to appear at the court house at a certain time on a certain day...AND could possibly have to pay a fine!!

thats the first time of me hearing that! i never got anything like that in the mail if i did not send the questionaire out it most be something they are doing now! I am sorry you have to appear in court.

you can postpone it once for 6 months, there should be a number to call on the form....

I have heard that after it has been postponed, they will send a letter telling you when you have to come in.

kinda wonder myself how they work....I got those and disregarded them a long time ago and never received any letters

I know the last time I served on a jury they show you a tape beforehand. It said they go after people who do throw the forms out. I know when I get the questionare, it means that jury duty is not far behind it. Which reminds me, I should be getting called soon.

How do they keep track of that? How do they know for sure you received it if they don't send it to you via certified mail and you acknowledge by signature that you had received it?

I recently got a questionnaire which I sent back and then got a notice that I had to serve. But it said in it that if you are the primary caregiver for a child under 16, you can have it postponed. I had to send it a letter stating that I was the primary caregiver and had no backup daycare and a copy of her birth certificate to the Commissioner of Jurors.
