jury duty

I got a notice for JD standby for the end of june. I served in Queens 2 years ago and submitted the certificate to Nassau, but I guess they didn't get it in time to delete my name from the list.

I'd like to postpone it for the next 2 years (since I already did 2) but DH says I should get it over with now, cause maybe there'll be a "little one" in the next 2 years.

Re: jury duty

I think I am going to be one of the few.... But I love jury duty. I just find it fascinating. You never know, they might not actually call you to come in. That happend to me my first time. I would get it over with while the weather is good, if you postpone and have to travel, you could get a winter month and then REALLY not want to go.

Re: jury duty

If you don't have any real conflicts now, I'd get it over with. A friend of ours had a big problem because she postponed 3 times and then got called the week they were leaving for a trip to Europe. She had a VERY difficult time postponing again and had to have her BIL, an attorney, appeal for her. It was really stressful for her.

Re: jury duty

just do it and get over with.

I did it about 2 years ago, I got called at 4pm and sat in the room for 1 hour while the 2 attorneys talked about the case and the procedure. Then they called 4 ppl at a time and interviewed each person asking them questions in regards to the case. They picked their 6 ppl and told us all to come back the next day because they had to pick alternatives. Went back the next day and the case got taken care of out of court at night so going to trial was not necessary.

Re: jury duty

i also got a notice for jury duty -- i live in queens and i have to start calling on june 17 after 5. I'm going to get it over with. There's never going to be a "right" time to go for jury duty. Plus, you can only postpone once and then they'll get you again in 6 months. That will be January when the weather will not be so good.

In short, I say get it over with, it's such a minor thing that it's not something you want hanging over you
