Jury Duty question w/poll
I've been summoned to jury duty on September 26th. Here's the thing, I'm going on a cruise from 9/17-24th. Because I have the time I decided to take 2 weeks off of work, one for the cruise and one for myself. The 26th will be my 2nd week of vaction, I don't have anything planned but I don't want to spend it doing jury duty! I was looking on the summons and it says you're allowed to postpone it between 2-6months from the date of the summons. Should I just get it over with or put it off? What would you do?

i would postpone it so you don't have to do jury duty during your vaca. once they call you again, then get it out of the way, that way they're not calling you again for at least another 4 years.

Delay it until January - they'll be no outside weather to enjoy and maybe you'll be lucky and have it cancelled due to snow.

I personally would get it over with now and since you are taking 2 weeks for yourself I would tell your job one week is personal, one is jury duty and take another week off later for yourself. Besides who knows it might be a one day thing and thats it.

Re: Jury Duty question w/poll
OK, I am the one who voted other
I get paid the whole time I have jury duty, so I would definitely postpone it, because I would lose valuable vacation time.
If I didn't get paid, I might just get it over with. That way I wouldn't lose any pay if I did get called in and had to spend several days (or more) there.

i would get it over with, there is never a convenient time for this, so i would just do it now
if you postpone, the weather is going to be crappy in january, PLUS you're taking 2 weeks off now from your job. If you hit them with jury duty 3-6 mos later it may not look good. IMO.

Actually I'm looking to screw my job, lords knows they're always screwing me! That's why I'm debating postponing it Although it would be nice just to hurray up and get it over with I don't want this hanging over my head for the next few months. I'm so indecisive!
