Just A Vent
This has been bothering me for a few days. I took the kids to get their pictures taken over the weekend. The studio was packed. The woman taking the pics was rushed. Nicholas has a hard time understanding directions. She kept telling him to sit this way, sit that way, sit up straight, move your head this way, and kept saying "c'mon Nicholas" in one of "those" tones. I was getting annoyed. My sister was with me and she was getting annoyed. I wanted to just blurt out BACK OFF HE DOESN'T GET IT. But I didn't want to embarass him and I didn't want to sound like a jerk (even though she was).
I now realize I have to say something prior to the "event" (whatever it may be), because this seems to be happening more often these days.

Re: Just A Vent
I'm sorry.
Maybe next time you go for pictures, you can call ahead and make them aware. That way your DS won't be embarrassed.

Re: Just A Vent
I'm sorry that happened to you. It's really helpul for me to read your posts because Nicholas is a little older than Cole. I'm used to telling most people (barber, photographer, etc.) about Cole's issues .. I didnt think that he may be embarassed as he gets older. I'll have to think about that one.
Even though I did tell a KK photographer last year, I still ended up walking out and semi-telling the woman off (saying you OBVIOUSLY are an impatient person and have NO business working wtih small children) whcih is TOTALLY out of character for me, but she was so grumpy and unaccomodating and made ME so nervous which made COLE so nervous.
Now I just have a very patient very kind friend take pics for us.

Re: Just A Vent
Ugh! I'm glad you spoke up at KK though.
See I'm not 100% sure if Nicholas would have been embarrased, I mean he's usually oblivious to most things, but now that he is getting older, I don't know? I don't even know that he really realizes he is "different" than most children so I'm not 100% sure on how to handle talking about his issues in front of him.

Re: Just A Vent
I'm sorry you had to go through that. I actually found Sears to be the best with Sophia as she is on the floor instead of on that platform at KK. I always tell them though that Sophia is a horrible picture taker and needs quiet (none of their silly noises) and no pressure and that usually calms the photographers down. I never get into Sophia's "issues" but just let them know just enough to make them understand.
