Just Asking - Name a young female celeb...
In light of all the bad publicity that today's young female stars and celebrities have been getting, I've started to wonder who young girls can look up to these days.
Name a young (late teens-early 20s), female celebrity who other young girls can look up to.
Who would you want your daughter, little sister, niece, etc. to look up to?
I can think of 2 who haven't gone "bad" yet:

I think she's a little older, but Natalie Portman. You rarely see pap pics of her, it's usually on the red carpet.

I would say Natalie Portman. I know she's a little older, but she's been around since her teens/early twenties.

I am not sure of her ge but Emmanuelle Chiquri ( I butchered her last name)
Xtina dresses like a skank but I don't think she has done anything horrible.

Anne Hathaway made a very interesting film with Bijou Philips. FAR cry from the princess diaries.
not that it makes her bad IRL, but it's not a movie I'd want my lil sister to see.

I agree- I would also hope that I can be a good enough role model that my DD will look up to ME.

I agree, plus she took time off from Hollywood to get her degree!
I would add Claire Danes, Ivanka Trump (Donald's daughter - same age/social status as Paris, but a much better person)

I hate to say it, but I am going to have to disagree with this one. Going out with someone who leaves their 7 month pregnant girlfriend to be with you is not my idea of a role model.
But i would include Kellly Clarkson to the list. She has not succombed to the ematiated celebrity star that every other singer tries to become. She has stood by her work, despite critcism from the powers that be.

You've all mentioned some good celebs that I have forgotten all about. I'm glad there are more than just 2 out there.
I can't remember any celebs that I looked up to when I was younger, but I do remember when little girls loved Britney and the Spice Girls. They wanted to dress like them, dance like them, sing like them, etc.
But hey, for all I know, the young female celebrities that were popular back when I was young could have been just as bad as the ones today are. But we didn't have the internet then, or the constant barrage of publicity back then.

I didn't know about that part with Claire Danes dating partner. With that info - I'd remove her from my list too.

as awful as they dress - id also have to say the Olsen Twins. You rarely see them sans undies at a club. and they did go to some college!

Yup. Billly Crudup left a very pregnant Mary Louise Parker for her.
Its a shame though, I really liked her before that. I went to law school with her brother who was such a nice guy and my friend dated him and knew her and only had nice things to say about her.

Of course I would prefer if they looked up to people like myself and the other strong women in my family and my friends.
However realistically, especially while they are in their teens, they look up to those in the media and while I would rather point them to those women that have made a mark in the world for things other than looks/singing (like Condoleeza Rice, Hilary Clinton, Jackie O (Kennedy),
I definately say tops on my list would be Reese Witherspoon, Mandy Moore, and I don't know her name, but Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter that is on Hannah Montana.
