Why do people type it G-d, and not God? Is it upbringing? Schooling? Just something the person feels right about? Always curious about this.

I believe that in Judaism, you are not supposed to type out the word God.

God is my answer.
I understand everyone comes from a different place, and I don't judge. I have people in my life who are atheist/agnostic. I just know, on a personal level, that God has gotten me through some very difficult times in my life. Everyone is different, and I understand how, after looking at some of the horrible things that happen in this world, to doubt or have crisis of faith. I don't believe that God is the cause of it, so I look at all of the things that I do consider God's miracles and that keeps me going.
ETA: I hope this does not offend anyone. I just felt like typing.

I believe that in Judaism, you are not supposed to type out the word God.
Basically, Jews write "G-d" b/c you are never supposed to destroy G-d's name. So, if you write it out in full on paper, you aren't supposed to get rid of it. I honestly haven't researched rabbinical opinions about how this applies to the internet, but it is habit for me. I never write it out.

Just FYI,
"Allah" is just the Arabic word for "God".
Same as saying "Dios" in Spanish, "Dio" in Italian or even "Yehweh" in Hebrew (although there is more to that one).
So, technically Catholics and Jews believe in "Allah" too.
