Just joined weight watchers any advice or tips?
This is my first time ever really dieting...I have always been able eat what ever I wanted but now after 3 kids that is no longer working for me. I am 8 weeks pp and I have about 15 lbs to lose. I want my clothes to fit again!!!
Any tips or secrets you want to share?
I think dinners are going to be the most challenging. I have 3 kids under 2.5 so cooking can be difficult I need to pre plan! Any easy favorites? Or crockpot favorites?
Also bfing moms did you see a change in your supply

Re: Just joined weight watchers any advice or tips?
what worked for me on WW * i didn't think of it as a "diet", just a total change in how i choose to eat and how much of it. * drink lots of water *skinnytaste.com for family and WW friendly dinner recipes *choosing fruits/veggies instead of granola or protein bars as a snack *eating plain FF greek yogurt keeps me full for low points *allowing myself room on the weekends to eat more than i do during the week...this was a huge help believe it or not b/c i didn't mind watching so much when i knew i could splurge on favorites (but not go nuts!) on the weekend.
i never cut out any foods or food groups which is why i love WW...i just eat smaller portions of things. good luck! i love WW-it is so realistic and do-able!

Re: Just joined weight watchers any advice or tips?
I think WW is a great program, and I've always had good success with it. I am on it now and just a couple of lbs away from my personal goal.
I think some good tips are:
1) Don't be all or nothing about it - try to stick to the plan as closely as possible, but when you have an off day or meal or unusual circumstances (vacation, illness, etc.), just do the best you can and then move on! Don't think you have to perfect all the time to be on the program. If you do that, you'll eventually give up, because none of us are perfect or can eat perfectly all the time!
2) Weigh in every week no matter what. Sometimes you will be surprised by the results, and it's good to have the consistent accountability. But don't obsess over weight (gains here and there are part of the process - as long as the overall trend is losses over time, you are good). And don't weigh yourself daily - weight fluctuates and you will drive yourself crazy.
3) Have reasonable expectations - WW really works, but the average loss is .5 to 2 lbs a week, so it's a slow and steady process.
4) Take the time to invest in learning the program upfront. Once you do, it becomes like second nature to track and count points because you start to know the values of the things you eat often. So the first couple fo weeks are the hardest.
5) Use tools to help you count and track accurately. I love my digital scale, and I weigh most of my foods in grams when I am at home and then look up the point values on etools (for most foods, you can enter the any amount of grams you want for an accurate point value). I also like using the WW barcode scanner app to scan foods in the supermarket and when out and about.
6) Don't be afraid to use the 49 weekly points (they are part of the program) and to allow yourself to have treats like wine or ice cream or dinners out. That is what the points are there for. I just try to use the "if you want to be small, order small" mantra when it comes to things like ice cream and other treats. But being too restrictive will lead to failure.
7) Focus on the good health guidelines that ensure you have a balanced, healthy diet -- not just points. So for example, if I haven't had any dairy in a day and I'm looking for a snack, I try to choose something like greek yogurt or a cheese stick to get some dairy in.
8) Try to take an hour or two a week to plan all of your dinners for the week and make a shopping list with the ingredients (and other staples) you need to shop efficiently and keep your house stocked with good options for you. Skinnytaste.com has a lot of good crockpot ideas, and sometimes dinners can just be a sandwhich and a salad, or leftovers, if you can't cook every night. But planning your food really helps.
9) Try to focus on eating foods you enjoy, not just what you think you should be eating. If you don't like salads, try roasted or grilled veggies to get your vegetable servings in, for example. If you love carbs, find a healthy way to work them in. If you don't like what you eat, you won't stick with it!
10) If the plan seems overwhelming at first, start with baby steps and go from there. You can incorporate more and more elements of the program as you go, but you have to start somewhere.

So, i'm just like you. I've never really had to diet before, have 3 kids under 2.5 and had about 15lbs to lose to be back to my pre-twin weight. I jpined weight watchers about 9 or 10 weeks ago now, i forget. I am happy to say as of now, I lost ALL 15 LBS!!!!! I still need to exercise to get toned. My belly is still ugly, BUT, i am fitting into my pre-twin size again and i am super happy. Dinner is diffucult. I bought a food scale. It's helped TREMENDOUSLY! My favorite quick mean is Sausage and Peppers. I biy chicken sausage from Trader joes, and frozen pepper and onions. Cut up the sausage, throw it in a baking dish with some peppers and onions, drizzle a little olive oil over it and bake it for 50 minutes. When it's done, i will drain any of the fat from the dish. For me, it was all about portion control. I could not control my portions anymore for some reason. I never really had to before. I was an avid gym go-er, worked out for 1-2 hours a night because i enjoyed it and was pretty active. Never had to watch my weight. Now, after 3 kids, i have no time to go to the gym. I am doing the Jililan Michaels total body revolution to tone up. And the whole portioning my meals thing is working out pretty well. I have fallen off the wagon a few times and have indulged a bit. But i am pretty good about getting myself back on track. I don't think of this as a "diet". I think of it as a "change". Changing the way i eat. I am more conscience about what i am putting in my body. I try to plan my meals ahead. I will even calculate points while i am in the supermarket. If i see that something is too "expensive" i just don't buy it. if there is something that i REALLY want but it's very expensive, i will give myself a goal and then have a smaller portion of what i would usually have ifi have met that goal. It's rough in the beginning. Takes some getting used to. But for me, what got me into it was when at my second weigh the scale had gone down. Once i saw the result, i was pretty happy and excited about it. Good luck!!!!

It is actually going pretty well...It helps that we are so busy and don't go out often haha! We have parties this weekend though so hoping I can be "good". Just from this week alone I never realized how much I " sampled" my kids food. A bite here and a bite there in addition to my own food. I am bfing now so those extra points definitely help. I am hoping when I stop I can keep up with it. Good luck!
