Just need to talk
I really have no one to talk to, not because my friends and family don’t care but it’s just difficult to say anything. Please indulge me.
I was diagnosed with fibroids a few years back. They have never bothered me but in July I went to see a gyno for the first time (I moved and changed gynos). Anyway, it was a very difficult session because he was just so so negative. He was like you can never have kids, blah, blah, just come and have a hysterectomy and get it over with. Needless to say, I never went back to see him because I didn’t like his attitude. Anyway, I decided to keep praying and trying. It’s been four months now and nothing. I am very sad at the moment because last week AF was a couple of days late and I had every symptom except nausea and I thought this was it. No chance, AF ended up showing. I have another appointment with a different gyno this month and praying for better news.
Today is difficult, I don’t know why. Just needed to say something.
Have a good day everyone.

Re: Just need to talk
I am sorry that you are having a rough day. I think you go see another gyno and or a specialist.
You need to see someone who you can trust and who is not negative.

Re: Just need to talk
I would see a specialist. They have made so many advances in fertility-check out LI-IVF-lots of people here have had success with them. I see someone at The Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine. You can also look at NS LIJ. Good luck.

Re: Just need to talk
Do not take no for an answer. Plenty of people with fibroids have kids. My sister in law has one and is 13 weeks pregnant now. My cousin had alot of fibroids and still managed to have 2 beautiful healthy kids in her mid 30's. Definitely find a specialist. There are so many good IF dr's in NY. Cornell, NYU and a whole bunch on LI. Good luck. Don't give up hope!

Re: Just need to talk
Thank you so much.
I am more prepared to see this new doctor in a few weeks and will not be easily intimidated this time.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I am actually in Chicago. Still very much a NY girl at heart though.

Re: Just need to talk
Is Surgery an option? I know juju on these boards deals with this and knows a lot, maybe FM her? Maybe she can help?
I would seek a few more opinions.
Hang in there

eta: If you were diagnosed with fibroids and ended up having children, please share your stories. TIA.
I suffer(ed) from fibroids, including carrying my now 9yr-old DS with the fibroids. As he grew, so did the fibroids. I have since had the fibroids removed, my quality of life improved, since I was getting mind-numbing AF cramps with the fibroids.
Depending on the location of the fibroids (whether in the uterine cavity, in the uterine wall or on the outside of the uterus), fertility may or may not be affected. Mine were in the cavity.
The first step would be to determine the actual location. An experienced dr can remove them while still preserving fertility (if the location is an impediment).
But one can still get pregnant with fibroids.
Good luck!
