Just need to vent about DS Bday party
I am sooooooo upset that about 1/2 of my guests cannot make it. It is killing me since I always imagined his party being filled with his family and friends and having sooo much fun.
We are working on our backyard, leveling it out, etc. so we could not do it at home. So it hurts me double having to pay for a place and not having that many people...

 I really feel for you. I know how sad it is. My DDs 1st birthday party is in a few weeks and we already got a few cancelations. It bothers me becuase I always go out of my way to go to others kids parties. I think it is becuase summer is such a busy time for everyone. The party will be special with those who can make it

I'm so sorry....it will still be special no matter what!
I know the summer is a busy time for everyone but I often get frustrated when people don't realize that it is important to us that they come. I really do try and attend all parties that I am invited to when it involves a special milestone (1st b'day, communion, graduation, 16, weddings, showers, etc) and really get upset when people decline. I'm speaking specifically on close family members and close friends in situation where I've given ample notice

I go through this with my DD's birthday too. It's in April, can be right near Easter, always seems to be near the school break. We have the worst times with her parties. Many of my friends are teachers and go away for April break so they are not around or we run into Easter and Passover problems.

I feel the same way too and we are having the party for DS's in my inlaws backyard so that all our friends and family did not have to drive all the ay to Westchester.. and i keep getting more and more excuses

I hate the excuses as well. Sorry to hear that you even went out of your way to have it at your ILs so your guests don't have to travel and still getting excuses

I felt the same way. Summer parties always seem to be that way- the weekends just get booked up so fast.
I was really upset that some people couldn't make it, but the day of the party I was so happy to see those who WERE there I didn't even care or notice who wasn't.
It will be a great day for you and your child no matter what!
