Throwing a party- VENT
I just called a place to get pricing for a bridal shower.
The girl says, "I can't give you a price on the phone because it depends on which package you pick. You need to look at a catering menu."
I asked for an approximate price range.
She again repeated it depends on the package.
I asked "What does the cheapest package start at? Can you give me an idea so I know whether or not it is worth my time to drive there and have to sit with someone."
"Well, it depends on the package. We can't give prices over the phone you may come in and say 'well, I was quoted this $$$'."
Forget it.
I just don't get why she couldn't give me a starting price. Now, if I go there and find that their packages start at $40 a head (well over my budget) I will be piissed because they wasted my time.
Sorry- nothing is going my way these days. Even the simplest things are difficult. I think I need a vacation.

I get so annoyed when people do that. You weren't asking her to commit to anything but she could have rattled off some information that would help you.

I hate that. Why can't people save both your time and their time and just say packages range from $23.87-$32.56
Where are you looking to do the party?

Marino's Remedies in Lindenhurst.
DH's friend owns (or owned- not sure if he still does) a piece of it and the party room looks nice from outside.

I had my rehearsal dinner at the Bulldog Grille in Amityville. Their prices are in your price range. Food was great and the staff was great to work with. May be worth checking out.

Did you check out SHANDON COURT. I had my RD there. The food was great and the pricing was just as good. They have a SHOWER PACKAGE
Hope that is sort of helpful good luck planning

Thanks! Yes, Shandon Court is #1 on my list right now. I just have to run it past my mom and I wanted to have a few other choices.

Call your DH's friend to get the price for the other place. If he is a partner wouldn't he give you the best price?

I remember that from when I was planning my wedding - halls wouldn't quote over the phone, even AFTER I explained I was planning a LI wedding from California! So annoying

If you are still looking for places check out the Blue Lagoon in West Babylon. It's on 109, right off the Southern State. They are also in your price range.

ITA...I mean they would rather make the appointment with you, wasting your time and theirs to you tell them it's out of your pirce range when you get there!??
