just put in our first offer today - UPDATE
this moring we made our first offer on a house EVER! Unfortunately there are 2 other offers on the house, so we gave them our highest and now i'm waiting to hear!
I'm usually pretty calm about things, but my stomach is in knots right now. Knowing it could go either way...either I'll be upset later or I'll be so excited and nervous about the money I will be spending soon!
Just needed to tell someone!

so our offer was accepted tuesday!! we just had our home inspection tonight and everything looks good, except for a few minor, common things. we are probably going to contract next week! i can't believe it!!

by the way, don't ever believe that there are other offers on the house.
sometimes you are told that just so you feel pressure to bid and to bid high.

Really? our RA is DH's aunt, so i hope she can find out all the info! We put in a low bid to start and she was told there were 2 other offers over the weekend and they were looking to make a decision today! she asked for my highest, which i even went a little higher than i wanted to. i asked her if she could offer a middle amount and if they would tell her that's no good, then go up to our highest, but she said it doesn't work that way. I thought that's what a bidding war was?
i just hope i don't get screwed!

Good luck! The process is a rollercoaster of emotions and there's no way to really prepare yourself for it. Just keep an open mind and stick to your budget and you'll be fine!

It's great your agent is a fam member!
I have heard of the seller's agents lie and say there are other offers, though. And there's no way to usually tell. Buying a home is like dealing with snakes at the car dealerships usually.
