Just realized I may have messed things up

Last month was the first time I decided to start using an OPK. So according to Deanna's plan I was supposed to start testing on day 8. Well, I didn't start until day 10 because I usually have a long cycle. Well, I got a positive on the first day (CD10). Then AF came on CD 26. ( I don't know why it was so short).

So this month I started testing on CD8 but I decided to use 2 different tests. Because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to POAS for both tests, I collected the urine in a cup and dipped the stick into it for both tests.

I am now on CD12 and still no positives. I'm now wondering if my test method is giving me erroneous results. Is it possible? Last month on CD10 the "test" line so MUCH darker than the "reference" line. Now it is still much fainer than the reference line.

Don't get me wrong -- I am hoping that I am not going to get a positive until at least Sunday since DH is away for the weekend and I don't want to miss my opportunity, but now I'm wondering if I messed everything up and may have missed my positive result because of the way I am testing.

I think you're ok, I had a very uncommon short cycle like that a few months ago. It was a 27 day cycle, I'm usually 36 days. Your body is probably back on your regular cycle this month and you'll 'O' according to that schedule in a few days.
The way your testing is fine.

I think its normal to O on different days. At least i hope so.

I O'd on cd 18 last months, and cd 14 this month.
