My friend's mom is a barrage of constant criticism. She told me about a book on Mother-Daughter communication that she found helpful - and the title is fits her mom to a tee. My Mom will come out with some hurtful comments without realizing it. I usually discuss it with her though to let her know what hurt me but she forgets so easily nowadays that I accept this is my Mother. She doesn't mean anything and loves me with all of her heart so that is what I focus on when I am in the middle of taking a deep breath and counting to 10

ughhh i'm sorry

I deal with that from mom AND dad.

I had dinner with them tonight, and in 1 hour, I was told:
-when I pull my hair 1/2 up, I look like a yorkshire terrier

-i'm only 23 and i have dark circles under my eyes that SHE never had til she had kids!

-my brother needs to bulk up and gain weight. She offered him "some of Nicole's stomach meat". (while laughing to herself)

-I was asked if I'm going to "do something about my arms" for the wedding because "fat arms don't look good in white"


I tune it out as much as i can, but it still hurts.
