just visiting -- question about chosing an Ob

Hi Ladies -- hope you don't mind the intrusion, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips about chosing an ob/gyn.

I'm living in a new state and just went to see my new GP (she's listed as "family practice" and she asked me if I would be using her for my annual exams (pap, etc). Since my DH and I are TTC I figured I should find an ob/gyn in the area for that.

Can anyone advise me on this. Also what should I look for when picking an ob/gyn.

Any info would be appreciated!
TIA

I am not sure where you are, but I would find the best hospital for pre & neo-natal care, L&D, and then see which doctors invovled have private practice.

Jenna!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're TTC - YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was looking for a new ob/gyn pre TTC I looked first at the hospitals in NYC I wanted to give birth in. Then I did a search through my insurance plan's website to see what doctors were affiliated with those particular hospitals. Some people prefer doctors in private practice - some like a group practice - personal preference. Not every doc is an ob/gyn - some dont deliver the babies - so you might want to check that out. . . then I went for a checkup and I really liked my dr, so I stuck with him.

I also looked at where my doctor went to medical school (the info was listed on my insurance website - and the year of graduation - this made it easier to guestimate the doctor's age, etc.) I didnt care about gender, but some people would rather a woman - so that's a factor as well.

Neil and I miss you guys!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon
