Just wanted to share something i'm proud of...
Well, something i'm proud of DH for doing...
It's pretty cool when you get to see graphic design work come to life (and not just as an image created on the computer). DH designed the logo and the 3 posters in the windows for this crossfit facility on LI and the guy sent him a picture when he got everything printed and put up on the building.
Sometimes i'm just in awe of DH's talent.

Looks fantastic....It's a great feeling to see your work in use!
I work for a web design agency and I've seen a few sites that I've managed on Divine Design.

Jess that is great!
Funny I was going to FM about you CrossFit. I just passed this one last week on my way home from work and saw some posts on fitness that you did this.
Any info would be great -- me and DH want to look into doing it!

It's the best workout, I was in such great shape when I was doing it. I can't wait to get back into it after the pregnancy!
Every day the workout is different and works different parts of the body (one day it'll be mostly cardio - running, rowing, etc and the next it'll be mostly leg workouts - squats, box jumps, etc).
And the best part is you go at your own pace and there are always alternatives if you can't do something yet (ex: pull ups - instead of doing a straight pull up which is obviously really hard, you stand on a box and do a jumping pull up). The workouts are either AMRAP's (as many reps as possible) or for time and they are posted on the crossfit facility's website each day. The website for this crossfit is www.crossfitssli.com and I think they just opened last week. They are giving everyone a free workout to try it out so I suggest you take advantage of that.
I could go on and on, but it's so much better than the same old at the gym! FM me if you want more info.

So, it's a facility and do you pay membership? How does it work exactly? Is there a schedule and a class you follow or do you just do it on your own?

Oh and is it for everyone, or just people at a certain fitness level?

Yes, you pay a membership. The one we go to down here you can either pay monthly and go unlimited or get a 10x punch pass for a certain $ amount and go when you can. Every place is different though i'm sure.
Every day a new WOD is posted (workout of the day) on the website (so you know what you're in for that day!). You sign in and register for a class, usually classes are 6am, 7am, 8am, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm. The WOD is explained when you get there and you do it at your own pace.

Crossfit is for EVERYONE. There are 60-yr old women, people who hadn't worked out in 20 years, bodybuilders, firemen, etc at the one we go to.
The workouts may be hard, but again you go at your own pace. You're not racing against anyone, you only go as fast or hard as your body lets you. You get to know everyone you work out with and everyone motivates each other which is really awesome too.
It's really worth it to go check it out and have the owner/trainers explain how Crossfit works, the benefits of a workout like this, etc. You need to experience it to really understand how it works. I think it's one of those things you either LOVE it or hate it. I have yet to hear of anyone hating it though.
What is CrossFit?

Is that the new CrossFit on Sunrise Highway in Bohemia? I stop at that Dunkin Donuts a lot and was wondering what was going on in there!
Congrats to your DH!

Thanks for the info!! I don't think we have one here in MD, but we're hoping to move to NY by December after I finish my degree
