k teachers who use learning centers
how long do you keep them at centers for. My principal wants us to do 2 guided reading groups but i think that is way to long to have them in centers. opinions....what do you do?
Also, what centers do you have?
Right now, i have:
listening
computers
library
handwriting
abc with tiles,stamps

i had the same as you have...
can you have math centers too or does it have to be all literacy? how long are your lessons? i wouldn't keep kindergartners in centers for more than 45 minutes.

No, I have to have all literacy. But I feel like they get bored so fast and at this point they can't do a lot of writing and things after say the library and listening center. For me, I find by 45min they are killing each other. how do you keep them going for so long'?

See, when i taught K I didn't do centers for more than 30 minutes, if that at this point in the year. like you said, they are not doing enough writing or reading at this point to make this work. if you really have to do them, if anything i would do it for about 20 minutes twice a day. that way you can break it up a bit.
