Re: Keeping toys together???

I use something similar to these...while the little pieces aren't always "together" they do stay in the same bins. DS is 2 1/2 and he is learning to put things away where they belong...he puts all his cars/trucks in one, puzzles in another etc...hope this helps!

Re: Keeping toys together???

small clear plastic bins.

I also have limited them to "one" toy out at a time. Any toys that have multiple pieces (doll houses, legos, train sets, etc).

Re: Keeping toys together???

I use tubs /clear boxes etc.

We have one for just about everything, it is the only way I can stay organized.

We have one for :
Baby toys ( for the twins)
Potato heads
Play doh
Play Kitchen food/pots pans etc
Crafts/coloring books/crayons etc
Cars
Trains ( 2 tubs, one for wood tracks, one for the plastic tracks)
Dinosaurs
Legos/megablocks,any type of "block"
Figures
Small box for Leapfrog Tag Jr and books
Puzzles ( we have like 50 puzzles..no joke..lol)

And then a few that are specific to toys he has a lot of of ....such as he has a large farm set with animals, so there's a Farm box

Then he has a TON of batman/spiderman stuff, so there is an action hero box seperate from the figures one.

He has a ton of rescue hereos stuff so theres one for that.

And he has a set of little people ( the old old school ones) and weebles and a play set for them, theres a box for that.

He will ask me to get him " puzzle box" etc, or take one out himself. It helps him forget about the toys/make them new again b/c he cant see them all the time...and we have a rule we put away what were playing with before taking out another.

My hosue is still a mess though

Re: Keeping toys together???

We have this and I "dedicate" a few for things that come with pieces when I clean up! Like one is Mr & Mrs. Potato Head and their stuff, one is for trains and their wood tracks, one is for building blocks (just like the big yellow one in the pic!, one is for my DS's smaller wheeled toys and the others are a nice organized mess Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am always amazed when I clean up how much really does fit in these bins! IT never looks like it will when they are all out and scatter around the room!

I also like that is it alll at my DD and DS's disposal! They dont get lost in the bottom of large bins (what we had before) and gets forgotten about! They really do rotate and play with it all bec it is out in the open and seen! KWIM?!?!

I got the canvas bins from PBK and got embroidered on them what they are (eg puzzle pieces, cars, balls, figurines etc.) I got through them once every few days to a week to get everything back in the right place and it helps a lot!

Re: Keeping toys together???

I bought cubby holders and canvas bins from Target. I took pictures of what is in each bin. Then I stuck the pics to the front of each bin with velcro so I know what is in each one.
