Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
I'm talking as far as getting lost. What do you do God forbid you get separated for your child. We have 5.5 year old twins and a 3 year old. Do they wear something with your name and phone number on it? If so, what? I just want to make sure we have everything covered. This is one of my biggest fears about going to such a big park with the three of them. TIA!

Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
We momentarily lost my daughter in the parks, she was 7. She did as we told her, she went to a cast member and we found her within 2 minutes. But, we also told her that she is to put and never go anywhere with that person. i.e If she is just to stay out in the open, we will be able to find her.
We also make sure our kids have our cell phone numbers memorized, so they can have someone call us right away.

Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
Thanks! My twins have my cell phone number and address memorized and they know to always find someone who works at the place we are at incase of anything and our I've also taught them to never go anywhere with anyone. When we get there I will show them what a cast member is dressed like. My three year old however does not know our phone number or anything. We try but he just can't remember it. This is the first time we are taking them to such a big and crowded place like this. So I'm a bit nervous.

I would consider renting a double "stroller" there (not really a stroller because its those plastic things) and make the twins sit in it. They probably won't mind because its hot and crowded there and they might welcome the chance to sit.

We are bringing our double stroller. But my kids aren't going to want to sit in it the entire time. They will take turns rotating who gets to sit in it when they get tired though.

Though I know it is not the popular option I use a leash/restraint system for my child. He is a natural runner to begin with. I use it everywhere we go. Do I get looks from people? Yes but I would rather have a safe, secure child than not.

Lol I considered this. Up until last year I used the back pack harnesses on all three of them when we were out. Even when I took them to and from nursery school. We got rid of them because we didn't need them anymore. I told my bus mad I was considering buying cheap harnesses for Disney and he said no. Not because he is not all for them, but because we have so many people going with us on one of the park days and they'll see their cousins of the same age not wearing them he doesn't want to put up a fight with the kids to wear them. I think I may order them on Amazon and have them under the stroller just incase I feel we need them. If we wind up not opening them I can return them.

Even if we are not staying on Disney property? That's good to know, thank you!

Re: Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
I think you know your kids the best. If you have 3 & think they would wander off... Use a harness like system on the youngest (or have the wandering one hold something at all times... Stroller, your shorts or skirt). Never hurts to put a card with your info in their pockets... Like luggage... My kids could not tell you my cell #! Another cheesy but cute idea is to put them in bright, matching family tee shirts. Tons of that in Disney & schools use that strategy all the time to keep easy eyes on the kids on field trips.
My oldest (almost 6) would wander. He's super fast & active! My middle is very good at being right by me. I tell both scary stories about strangers and tell them to go to a mommy if they get lost to ask for help.
The good news is that Disney isn't that chaotic & there is a lot of slow moving lines (less of a chance to run off). Never had an issue there! I've had more problems at department stores where there are racks & aisles & a chance to lose sight of kiddos.

Take a picture each day so you have a picture in the clothes they're wearing. I didn't put IDs on them, but next time I think I'll buy the single use ID bracelets. You can buy them on Etsy with a Disney design and your info preprinted.

Re: Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
We just got back - opposite of you - 6 year old and 19 month old twins, I was so nervous especially for one of the twins who is a runner. Bright colors, know what they are wearing each day (picture) - remind them where to go if separated, who can help them etc. You'll be fine. Have fun!

Re: Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
I went to pet smart and had the little metal tags made that had one side Mom: 917-222-2222 Dad: 516-222-2222 I attached it to my daughters sandal buckle. I also had them made for my nephews. Even though they are 7 and 8, we were worried that in a panic they would forget their parents' cell numbers. I read that Disney employees are trained to scour children for trinkets that may have a phone number.

We bought para odd bracelets with "in case of emergency" info on them from etsy, used first three years. This year at 3 and 5 we did without.

Re: Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
We lost our 3 yo (at the time) for a good 5-6 minutes. The crazy thing is we had one of those leash backpacks and didn't use it. So, that would be my advice.

I have use the bracelets you would get a a carnival to show you paid for unlimited. The ones that are water proof and single use. I write the information on the inside so one one can see it and then they feel like they are only wearing a bracelet and if lost they can show someone and ask them to call the parent.

Re: Keeping your kids safe in the Disney parks?
We used to do the tattoos with the phone #. However, now that they have magic bands, once they find a cast member, they take them to scan their magic band and find the parents # that way.

We put the tattoo on our DD. We also instructed her what to do in case she gets separated, don't panic, look for a cast member (we showed her exactly what one would look like with the name tag, and to never ever go with another adult that was not a cast member).

Thanks everyone! We have the magic bands so that makes me feel better that if we do get separated a cast member can scan it. I also ordered another backpack harness for my youngest and plan on using it the moment we get in the parks. We are also bringing our double stroller.
