Kicking the thumbsucking habit?

I'm posting for a friend with a 4 year old who sucks her thumb - Her DD is so cute - she said "mommy - I know I have to quit, but I can't!" So she's looking for suggestions on how she can help her kick the habit... She'd appreciate any advise from BTDT mommies..

Re: Kicking the thumbsucking habit?

I was just going to post this about my DD, she is only 18 months but I want to start now.
The ped told me to try & make it fun so I've been trying but then she does it to be funny.
Sometimes when she starts to put her thumb in her mouth (usually when she is tired). I ask her if she wants to hold hands & it works for a little while.

I'd love any suggestions - DD is 17 months and sucks her thumb a lot.

For awhile, princesses don't suck their thumb worked.

Later on, a Band-Aid helped a lot. I have debating getting the stuff you put on your thumb that tastes bad.

We're still working on it.
