Kid and pet friendly couch
My sectional in my den which is only 4 years old is destroyed. I am noticing tears by the seams on the arm rests and cushions. The fabric is pulling and balling. I got it from The Place furniture which I think is now out of business and when I called to complain a couple of years ago they wouldnt do anything. I spent extra money for more durable fabric
What kind of fabric do you have on your couch? I need it to be easy to get stains out of and be able to endure kids and dogs jumping on it

I have leather in the den and love it. I don't have pets though.
Another option for you is microfiber. It's extremely durable and stain resistant.
I also recommend getting something at Macy's and getting the protection plan. They replaced the entire couch once (I ripped the back cushion) and once they fixed it (another thing we did to it). Totally worth the extra $$$.

leather!
YES! I would not take another microfiber couch if you paid me to! It attracted dog hair like a magnet and I couldn't get stains out of it without making the stain worse. I only had our set for 4 yrs and dumped it for leather. Between the dog and 2 kids a chocolate microfiber set was not a good decision for us. Leather wipes up GREAT!

I disagree with leather - it's great for the kids but my cats claw marks are all over and I have an expensive set (pre kids and cat) She isn't scratching it, its just from jumping on and off. It looks like Freddy Kreuger got to it (they aren't holes or ripped, just discolored scratches from her claws.)

Re: Kid and pet friendly couch
I bought the Ikea couches with the washable covers. So far, they have stood up to both the kids and dog.
