Any info on this...
MIL bought it for DS for xmas, but Im starting to wonder if it will be a dud like the camera

I think a portable DVD player is great. The kid tough one looks like it has a small screen though. I would return it and get a regular one.

Im worried my child will break it then though?
Im not worried about the small screen since it really will only be used for long car trips/plane rides...

Yeah, I wouldn't be that worried about that. We borrowed Melissa's when we went to Florida and C3 was 15 months and did fine with it!
I don't know how much she paid for it, but I know around the holidays they are around $79-99 and that one was $149

Both.
He held it in his lap in the car and when we were on the plane we put it on the tray table. He really didn't try to touch it or anything. He was in a trance. LOL
I suck too, but my mom keeps telling me to buy one (partially for Chris on the nightshift) and she keeps pointing out how cheap they are
You could spin it that she could return it, buy another and then get him a 2 movies to go with it, KWIM?

FYI - - - qwe have a regular one. they sell a separate harness type thing that you can secure the dvd player onto the headrest in the car so DC doesnt have to hold it on their lap.
