Kids baking ideas- that dont involve "baking"
The school I work for actively participates in raising $$$ for the March of Dimes...
Each week we have different fundraisers, and this year Id like to have a "bake sale". I really want the kids/classes to make the "baked goods" we raffle- since it is their fundraiser...problem is- we have NO OVEN...
What are some things we can bake, w/o baking...????
I was thinking... "dirt cups", "choc. covered pretzels" (we do have a microwave and I figured the kids could dip and decorate) "jello shapes", I was also thinking of making a bunch of cupcakes and letting a few classes decorate them...
Any other ideas???

Yes, go into waldbaums, olive garden, local pizzerias, and tell them where you work and you are holding a fundraiser for your school would they help out with a simple donation for a chinese auction... Ive seen joes pizzeria in some as well as mamma lombardis... Oh also, bagels stores... these places love publicity as well as making some extra $$ after the consumer spend the cert.

You could also ask some of the parents to donate and make baskets to auction off, like the car wash one I won last year Actually I think what you did was sort of like a chinese auction, but without the people present. If you can, you should set up the chinese auction on a Friday night and sell the non-baked goodies that night also.
I think most businesses are willing to donate GC's, etc. Usually the smaller mom and pop type places are a little better about it. Car washes are usually very generous!

We are doing the same raffle as last year... (car wash, art, spa etc)
So maybe I will get a few local places to donate GC to add to our "raffle"
Thanks guys!!!

Miranda's school has been making "no bake" cookies for snack. I don't have the recipe. Her teacher said she just got if off all recipes. Miranda loved them.

I looked it up online, and it seems to have peanut butter in them. We are a peanut free school, is there anything I can substitue it for??? Caramel maybe?

Marissa look on allrecipes.com. There seem to be a lot of choices without peanut butter.

Re: Kids baking ideas- that dont involve "baking"
Microwave Rice Krispie Treats
3 tablespoons butter 1 (10 ounce) package regular marshmallows 6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
In a large microwave safe bowl, heat butter and marshmallows at HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
Add Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal. Stir until well coated. Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cut into 2-inch squares when cool. Best if served the same day.
For best results, use fresh marshmallows. 1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow creme can be substituted for regular marshmallows.
Store no more than two days in airtight container. For nutrition information and more great recipes, visit www.Kelloggs.com

I forget what they're called, but they sell those little like pound cake shells by the fruit section. Then you fill them with berries and cool whip.

I make my chocolate for chocolate covered pretzels in a small crockpot----this may work....maybe the adults can dip into the chocolate, and the kids can dip into things like sprinkles, chocolate chips stuff like that
Have fun@!!!

Re: Kids baking ideas- that dont involve "baking"
My kids went to a party where they made chocolate pizzas.
They had chocolate disks, painted them with "sauce" aka pink frosting...then decorated them with toppings
anchovies = gummy fish cheese = white chocolate ground up
eta.
Also I would be wary of buying something edible that was made by the kids. I know it's sounds like a cute idea but I just think of how many colds & illnesses passed through my kids daycare & the kids with the snotty noses...
I'm sure you'd make them use gloves but that's the first thing that went through my head. Personally I'd rather buy "artwork"

My favorite no bake cookies are those little hamburger cookies you make by sandwiching a peppermint patty between two vanilla wafers -
