Ideas to make him try New foods?
Do you guys have any tricks to get them ( toddlers) to eat a new food?
Noah will resist completly....and I dont want to FORCE a new food on him but his eating is so bad right now...he is teething on top of it and I worry about him getting enough to eat.
Is there a fun way to present it? Things to say or do?
Any tips helpful!
TIA!

Lucas will try anything if he has something to dip it in...usually ketchup
He doesn't always like it and will refuse but he does give most things he can dip a try.
Maybe try that?

thanks for the post b/c I can't get TJ to try anything. If it doesnt look like something he normally eats, he looks at it, picks it upa nd throws it. Won't even attempt to try it.

Re: Ideas to make him try New foods?
I wish I knew.....my DS is the same way lately.
He will lick the ketchup off and then put the food back down.
I am trying hard not to get too frustrated -- but lately DS is so picky. He stopped eating some things he used to love. I try to just put a little bit of new food on his plate every day and hope he tries something he likes. My DH has been getting upset about DS eating habits, but I don't know what to do anymore -- I can't force him to eat. I hope it is just a phase.

Boy, I wish I had ideas. I've tried EVERYTHING about 10 times with DD, she's a major challenge with eating.
She doesn't like to dip in anything either, so that doesn't help me at all

Dont get caught up in the foods that he will eat. If he will only eat cheerios, chicken nuggets, and yogurt make sure that you consistantly keep offering other foods with those foods....
If he likes chicken nuggets try fish nuggets...if he'll eat a burger but not his vegetables buy veggie burgers....
He may try something new if one of his friends are eating it so offer up different type of snacks on playdates....
I always found that kids liked cruising the appetizer buffet we would have at parties. Sometimes just leaving some different/new foods out will get them to try it....
It took me years to get my kids out of their picky food eater habits...They will now eat pretty much anything I put in front of them.

Whole Foods had a book called the Sneaky Chef and it had recipes for TONS of things they already eat but ways to add really healthy stuff to it without having to "force" it because they don't even know it's there! So they get the nutrition you're looking for too!

Re: Ideas to make him try New foods?
When Kristina is teething I have to 'tempt' her with her foods with a snack/treat that she loves...
I hold up the spoonful of food that I NEED for her to eat, and show her in my other hand a treat/snack that she wants.
I tell her that she can't have the snack until she eats the spoonful of food which I have prepared for her.
I made homemade lasagna last night, and her mouth is so very sore she DOESN'T want to chew meat....
I showed her a Cheerio in between my fingertips while holding the spoon telling her you may have the Cheerio after you eat the lasagna.
You show the food then show the snack show the food show the snack... they get it after a minute, and start eating the food and then you give them the snack.... don't just tempt them with it.

Re: Ideas to make him try New foods?
Alex will eat anything DH or I will eat - I would eat it yourself and make lots of commentary on how good it is, and how you don't want to share it with anyone.
Reverse psychology - works only so far, but take it as far as it will go while it lasts!
ETA - we have a rule in our house - no snacks for 1.5-2 hours before a meal. She's always more amenable to eating a real meal or trying new foods when she's actually hungry.
