Kids fundraising for school around neighborhood
Would you find it normal if your neighborhood kid came around selling candy, then a week or two later, went back around selling it again and sold it to your spouse?

No I would not be annoyed. Its not the kids fault your spouse purchased it.

I believe the national PTA does not allow kids to go door to door for their own safety. it may be something to mention to your PTA - not to get the child in trouble but maybe they need to remind their parents

Re: Kids fundraising for school around neighborhood
Our school definitely does not want kids to go door to door. I would be fine if the kids I know from our block came here but I would not expect them to unless I know them and their parents. If it is from the same round of orders then I think that a kid who is old enough to go door to door should see that they have an order from your family on their list.

my husband actually knew I already bought some.........
It was kids from our block.........Although we've never officially met the family.......
Its just when I went selling girl scout cookies as I kid I only came around for orders once.... They seriously went back over all the houses on the block with the candy bars and I didn't know if that was the new norm.

It's pretty unusual & I'd be surprised, but if it's kids that I recognize from my street I'd understand. They have the product on-hand & ready to unload, so it stands to reason that their customers already ate their purchases a week or two ago & might want more...I actually think it's pretty smart on their end!
ETA: That being said, I still wouldn't let my kids do it though! lol

How much are the candy bars? A buck or two? And they are ready to buy on the spot? I don't think this is a big deal at all. Now if the child was selling wrapping paper, etc. and came by more than once, yes a little weird.

Re: Kids fundraising for school around neighborhood
We are new to suburban life but I'd happily buy and support from my immediate neighbors, meaning people who actually live near us and we see them on the streets. I would be ok if they hit me up and then tried to sell to my husband, especially if it was edible and we actually ate the item.
I hate any type of door solitications though. If it was a random kid who I did not recognize, I would not like it. I often find these people ring the bell when my kids are asleep or getting ready for bed!

Re: Kids fundraising for school around neighborhood
From a pure sales standpoint, it makes sense. I mean if you go back and they say no, well no loss. But if they say yes, you’ve doubled the sale. I don’t know if the candy was given on hand, but if so then even MORE of a reason to come back. If they liked the ‘product’ go back for a repeat sale. Now if it’s just to take orders, then it’s a waste of time. The ‘customer’ has no reference to rebuy.
On another point a kid doing it, well I don’t know about that. I’m with the other posters regarding the PTA statement of no door to door. Certain groups tho like Cheer etc will try to sell stuff anyway possible and the only REAL way to hit up the neighbors is to knock on their door, but I would HOPE their parents are right there with them.
Being the crafty kid I was, I was NOT above buying a box of chocolate bars and walking around selling them for charity at twice or more mark up and keeping the profits. They all knew me from Girl Scout cookies, church and it was a military base so they knew my dad. Yet it always worked. I never over did it but sure did get myself a bicycle bell!
Obviously I was little like 8 or so. But no WAY I'd take my mom with me. She'd have killed me if she knew! So no parent to me now equals an oppurtunistic child.
