Kids say the darnest things.... (probably not the funniest thing but it gave us a giggle)

So AJ has this thing lately where she says “are you mad?” and she knows she’s done wrong or is pushing our patience. I tell her honestly. You’ve disappointed me or yes, I am Mad (when she hit me). Well she cries immediately if you say you are mad. So sometimes I’m just frustrated and she’ll ask “Are you mad” an I say “No, but you’re working on it” This dialogue has been going on for about 2 months.

Are you Mad?
No, but you’re working in it.

Well Last night she’s doing the potty dance but won’t go (and I KNOW she needs to go) so I tell her to use the bathroom. At first she says no, then she dawdles then she gets distracted etc,.. more and more ticking me off. JUST GO, you’re gonna have an ACCIDENT!

Then she walks into the bathroom and sees a towel on the floor (hubby left it there from drying up her last overzealous bath) and starts to say “What’s that? Why is it on the floor?”

I’m seriously losing it…

Me: AJ!
Her: (stares at me knowing I’ve had it)
Me: Sit down and go potty or you’ll have an accident, I have asked you nicely. Please SIT down!
Her: Ok
[she gets on the toilet and looks up at me]
Her: Are you mad?
Me: No (with a semi smile because darn it she does look cute)
Her: (smiles back) But I’m working on it, right? (nods with a self satisifed grin)

I walk off and cover my grinning mouth. Hubby is crying in laughter as he heard it too.

How can I be mad at that?

I can't wait to hear the things that are going to come out of my daughter's mouth as she gets older.
Because even at 2 she has the personality of an imp!!

Oh its fun... Everytime she falls or hurts herself after I've TOLD her not to do something .... I have no sympathy.

I tell her "I told you to be careful, didn't I?" and give her a stern look like "look at what happens now"

So now when she messes up I look over and she gives me a stare and says "I'll be more careful" and nods. LOL

She does it even when I DONT tell her to be careful. She fell once and I was like "whoa" and she says "its ok, I'll be more careful" haha

First thing out of her mouth "Ill be careful" umm a little too late don't you think? she did it once at school and even the other parents laughed.

I dont run to her or pick her up. I KNOW she's fallen hard a few times, heard her head hit the floor and I just laugh it off. She looks star struck then will try to figure out what she wants more, to laugh with mama or cry into my arms. Its a toss up on the outcome. If she cries she knows I 'hate' tears (drops) on my clothes. I don't like to get 'wet' (totally not true, just a game) so she tries to smear tears on me as much as she can LOL. Usually makes for short crying time as she's laughing too hard
