Kiera practically saved Alexander's life tonight

I left the room for a moment. Whenever I do that I always make sure I close everything up. Put up the gate, etc. We don't have any of Kiera's small toys out in our main room and Alexander really can't get into anything. I told Kiera mommy's just leaving for a moment, sit with your brother and call me right away if he does anything. Not even 10 seconds later I heard her yell. I went running in and she told me that he took her chapstick top off and had it in his mouth. She reached in and took it out of his mouth when my fat butt didn't get there fast enough.

I thought the chapstick was on the table out of his reach. But apparently he was able to reach it. I am so thankful that my little girl knew what to do. We've taught her before but who knew if she would actually be able to help him if something happened? Well tonight I learned many things:

1) Don't ever think kids can't reach anything
2) It is important to teach your kids about choking and how to help someone
3) Throw all the chapsticks in the house out because the tops come off very easily, even for a 15 month old.

Tonight I am giving my little girl tons of hugs and kisses. Who knows if Alexander would have tried to swallow it or not? But if she didn't pull that cap out I don't even want to think about what may have happened.
