Kind of a personal question about tax returns...
I'm not sure what to expect since we bought a house this year. We closed in August and our first payment was in Oct. Anyone mind sharing what their returns have been like? TIA!

Re: Kind of a personal question about tax returns...
Since you bought the house in Oct. there is a special credit/interest free loan that the goverment is allowing. You have to pay this credit back over 15 years when you file your tax returns.
I hope this works..I tried to attach the link for your information.http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=187935,00.html

Thanks for the info. As I read on though it said you would have had to buy the house between April and July. We closed on 8/8. Oh well!

No, April 8 2008 and July 1, 2009 So you qualify. Us, however, in a cruel joke of a world, closed April FIRST, 2008

Re: Kind of a personal question about tax returns...
being that you only paid oct, nov & dec, there are only three months of interest that you can write off. you can deduct some of your closing costs too.
I don't think that this year you will get a HUGE check back, but will be more than you have gotten pre-house...
hope this helps!
