Kind of bothered by this...shopping with a stroller
I was at the Deer Park outlets on Saturday morning by myself with the girls in their double stroller. Hardly anyone would hold the door open for me.
I walked into Gymboree this girl who worked there was literally standing next to the door. She saw me struggling to get in and walked away. Who does this? There was no one in the store
Went into Strausberg kids. Girl was at the register saw me coming and walked in to back.
***** with these people???

Yup - that's pretty much how it is
I actually find the employees of the stores are the worst. They see me coming with the double and jump in front of me - like they cant wait the 2 seconds for me to pass.

I find single men and older women are the ones that typically hold open the door. I have become a master at the double stroller/foot holding although I don't need it very much anymore.

Re: Kind of bothered by this...shopping with a stroller
Yup i get this all the time too. It happens more often than not.
If I see someone standing there watching I usually say "oh no don't worry I got it" As i'm trying to hold the door and push the stroller through at the same time.
I agree with the PP though. I find that men are more inclined to hold the door for me

Re: Kind of bothered by this...shopping with a stroller
i usually don't have a problem with the door but some people give me grief about getting down the aisles.
I was in Marshall's a few weeks ago with the double. I know it isn't small but it was 9:45am. I was going up and down the home goods aisles and kept passing this old lady with a cart. I made room for her to pass or go ahead a few times. Then, I stopped to look at some stuff near the end of the aisle. She wanted to get by, so I move the stroller past the end of the aisle and turned it. Well, I turned it the way she wanted to go, I guess. She said, "I was going that way!", in a snotty tone! Apparently, no understanding for me or appreciation for the accommodations I had been making for her for aisles! So I said back, "I guess you'll have to go around the other way then"!. Shut her up!

Re: Kind of bothered by this...shopping with a stroller
i'm so glad you wrote about this....people never hold the door for me!!! i remember when i was preggers with my second DS and i had my older DS in the stoller and i was holding the door for someone and they just walkedo n in and didn't say thank you. i just said loudly "you're welcome" people are ridiculous!!! so now i just hold the door open with my butt and push the stroller in... on the rare occassion someone will hole the door for me. people are just soooooo rude!!!!!

Re: Kind of bothered by this...shopping with a stroller
I have made this same comment so many times....And other twin moms I know say the same thing.
The aisles are the worse! Not only do you barely fit, but I must say excuse me like 10 times sometimes...
I try to make a joke about it, but its sad how rude people are these days!

I think they should have automatic doors at every store....it would be so helpful for everyone.

Re: Kind of bothered by this...shopping with a stroller
I cant believe how incredibly rude people are - thsi happens to me all the time! It is very rare that someone holds the door for me when I have the stroller and 99% of the time its a man!
One day I was at work and we have a small flight of maybe 10 stairs - still hard to get up with a stroller. I was leaving with my colleagues and there was a women who looked pregnant try to carry her strolle rup the steps. I asked if I could help her and my friends - all moms - were like why did you ask her if she needed help?? People just have no manners sometimes!

Cant stand it.
And to boot.. You think a childrens clothing store would have more room between the racks to meneuver the stroller around.. NO! They cram everything.
People SUCK!
The only ones that understand are parents. And thats the truth.

I was going to say this - it's so hard to manuever my Maclaren through stores like Gymboree and Carters...
I hate when people see you coming too and don't move - and they could easily do so...
