kind of spin off- what does you DH do around the house?

ok mine- does nothing- nothing

hence why I would never think a married man was picking up the dry cleaning

he thinks it's the cleaning lady's job and the rest is all me

everything was fine when I worked 20 minutes from home- leave work at 5pm- run errands etc

but now I am working it CT- I leave the house at 6:45 am and come home at 7pm

I really think I need to renegotiate this arrangement

ok- this turned it more of a vent

but while Jake is off at "fighting class"

I am home with a huge mess, I need to pack- we are moving in a week

I just want some help!

I am super lucky. DH can't stand messes, esp in kitchens. He almost always does the dishes.

There are some things he refuses to do -- like make beds -- but the stuff he does makes up for it. I can't complain.

Your commute sounds tough -- you should definitely split up the errands that need to be done.

well he makes a mess often

but he will clean the dishes up half assedly

he will do all of his laundry and all of his dry cleaning

he does some yard work when he feels like it or when it start bothering him (he gets on these little kicks where he obsessed on that stuff)

he vacuums

he attempts to clean up the bathroom after he used it

I beg him everyday to do the little things (Close the drawers after you open them, shut the medicine cabinet, don't flood the bathroom) --- he doesn't do a single thing.

I'm hoping that my b!tching about it everyday will help him one day to make some progress.

DH takes out the trash...We grocery shop together. He occasionally unloads the dishes and does his own laundry if I leave it for long enough. Sometimes he cooks (rarely). We make the bed together.

I work full time and go to school full time so he really, really needs to do more. I periodically get ****** about it.

I wish he did more, but when he lived alone his place wasn't clean either. It was very neat, but not clean.

My DH cooks dinner almost every night, breakfast on the weekend, makes our lunches & breakfasts for work, sets up coffe pots for the morning, washes dishes, laundry, does all the driving (I don't drive), does the food shopping including BJ's.

ok- this really isn't funny- I already have a cleaning lady every week and we live in a 1 bedroom apartment

we are going to need a live in when we buy a house

I have to find away to fix this- but it's pretty hopeless b/c HIS MOTHER TOLD HIM BOYS DON"T CLEAN- MOMMIES CLEAN at age 5

I have a better chance at winning the lotto then getting Jake to clean the house

Mine doesnt really do anything either. He deals with the landscaper, the pool guy and the security company. Other than that, I do the rest. At times it's frustrating but I work less hours so I guess it's fair.

At least your commute will improve when you move. Maybe it wont feel as overwhelming then. Also - Moving is VERY stressful!!!

DH is great. I am a SAHM and he works like crazy but still helps out when he is home. Don't get me crazy the man has never cleaned the tub or toilet and never will, but he does his fair share

We do all food shopping together
he does laundry often ( folding is my job since I don't like the way he folds)
makes the beds ( although only when asked)
vacuum/mop
does dishes ( not often though since I don't like to let anything sit in the sink)
all yard work and outside work - raking, leaf blowing, cutting grass, shoveling, sweeping, etc.
I never go to the dry cleaner thats all him
takes out the garbage daily and brings it to the curb on garbage days and then puts it back after the garbage men pass


He leaves the scrubbing and dusting and heavy duty stuff to me.

My DH does a lot. We don't have "assigned" chores. He has always done yardwork, garbage, cleaning the cat box, vacuuming/sweeping, and general straightening. Since I've been pregnant and really tired during the week, he usually does the dishes, and usually the laundry too.

I think it really helps that I married someone who'd been a bachelor for ten years- and he had a roommate for 4 years who was a slob, so it's habit for him.

ETA: Since he's a professor, he also has a great schedule- he only has a 4 day work week.

DH is repsonsible for his own laundry and that is it..

If I ask him to do anything though he will do it, just now on his own.

Although, when he does clean for me its NEVER the way I do it so I find myself doing it over.

My DH does most of the cleaning. He is a neat freak and I never knew it until we got a house together. It's awsome now, but when we first moved in I thought I was going to kill him! He would practically follow me around the house with a sponge. It was so annoying. He has now simmered down and I can appreciate his psychotic ways.

I think Ray is the best husband ever! He cooks, cleans, does laundry, etc all the time!
His job has more flexable hours than mine, so he is usually home alot earlier than me, so he takes it uponhimslef to cook dinner and clean the house while I am at work.

wow, i'm in the minority here. My DH does a lot...I clean up after him sometimes, but he definitely does laundry and the dishes and he cooks!

Really no housework-

He helps with DS most nights- by giving him a bath-

Some nights he'll clean the kitchen (which really dosent help me since his idea of cleaning is brushing the crumbs from the table on the floor, and throwing everything unrinsed in the dishwasher)

ETA- He is down to cook any night I ask him too-

DH does do some things-- but most of the time when HE needs it done. Nothing is ever done just to keep the house going without a constant reminder from me.

I too work longer hours and ageee, that whoever is home first should pick up a little more slack. I can dream, can't i?

He does a lot.

We each take care of our own laundry. I rarely get things dry cleaned, but he will take my stuff with his when I need something cleaned.

He does most of the grocery shopping and cleans the bathroom. He takes out the garbage and the recycling. He is usually willing to do anything I ask him to help me with, but he doesn't really cook.

I have it pretty good too-
DH is a great help around the house...we do it together...although the daily pick up is me-but we don't make too much of a mess... He even does the toilet bowls and floors since I hate that... and he irons whatever we do not get dry cleaned... He is really great...

Takes out the garbage, sometimes he does laundry (usually when I forget to do his work clothes ), and...hmmmmmmmmmmmm...I think that is about it...
