Kinda hated my Childbirth Class last night...
So, we took it at the local hospital-- which personally, I would never go to for medical care but figured all of the info is the same, so why should it matter.
The woman who taught the class has supposedly be doing this for 20 years-- and even taught classes at the hospital I am delivering at-- so you think her classes would be great.
Some of the things she did..
1- Taught us what the signs that we are getting our period.  All of the women were 6+ months pregnant.
2- She did this whole complete the sentence thing throughout the class. For example, "You may not be feeling the same as you normally do because you are..... anyone?... pregnant". Thanks Captain Obvious!!!
3- THEN, she kept us like 20 mins late-- after spewing info that we all already knew on election night!!
Anyway-- I hope as the class progresses it will be better, but so far I feel like I wasted $125 and I was BORED and my back hurt from sitting in these stupid chairs for 2+ hours.

 that's a shame. childbirth classes are supposed to inform you, put you @ ease and be interesting.. sorry you wasted your time.

Wow, that sounds really annoying! I hope the class gets better.
I have my first childbirth class tonight, I was looking forward to it ...I hope it doesn't turn out to be a big waste of time!

This is a huge pet peeve or me. I would have lost my mind if I was in the class with you. LOL
Hopefully it gets better down the road.

Sorry to hear about your experience.
If you feel you haven't gotten the most out of your experience, you could try the Laugh and Learn about Childbirth video. It's really informative and funny at the same time. And better yet, you can watch it right at home and pause/rewind to your hearts content. :D

In all sincerity - i would've started throwing things at the teacher...that bothers me SOOOOOOOOOO much!!!!
What about getting one of those dvd's? The laugh and learn series, i've heard are very good!

I rented the laugh and learn dvd the best money I ever saved!!! If you can get a refund do it and rent these videos

Go for the DVD's seriously, i ffwd through parts that really didn't concern me, and DH had the patience to sit t hrough it...

From my library in jersey - the laugh & leran dvd's are part of their catalog. Check your library before spending the money on the dvd!

We bought the DVD last time - honestly I was commuting to NYC for work and DH work long hours and his firm don't give them the calendar ahead of time - so he never knows what night he will be preparing for what court conference or EBT the next day - so evening classes are tough since he brings home work most nights. Weekends we got a lot done errand wise. The dvd was great - it gave us what we needed and it was in chapters so we could split it up and watch it on our schedule. The class sounds like a fun idea but if you aren't happy I would see about the DVD b.c it might be more your speed.
