Kinda sad when I should be happy
My DH is a physical education teacher and is looking to move to another school district. Well this year he coached football in a new school district and found out that there will be an opening there. we were soo happy. Well today he got a call that they have not started interviews yet but they want him to coach Lacrosse in the spring. I know I should be happy for him but He will never be home around when I am due because the season will have started. I just have this fear that I am going to be home alone when i go into labor. Am I wrong to feel this way??

Re: Kinda sad when I should be happy
Not at all! I'm going through the same thing-- I'm due May 10th and my DH is starting a new job around that time and he's going to be traveling a lot....horrible timing....

Re: Kinda sad when I should be happy
Absolutely not. I was in a similar situation and after DH and I discussed it, he turned down the job.
He too was offered to coach the lacrosse team. He would never be home and IMO the last few months and delivery month are super important. So, we weighed out the pro's and con's and I just said that I didn't want to be alone. Yes, he gave up a dream of his, but at the same time there are just more important things going on that he needs to be around for.
Is this your DH's only job?

Re: Kinda sad when I should be happy
You have every right to be apprehensive, but honestly, in the day and age of cell phones, etc, you will have NO problem getting in touch with him.
My DH works opposite hours of me, and if I go into labor when he is working, I will call him. Granted, he is an EMT, so he does have an ambulance and could come get me in that.
I understand your feelings, but extra cash is good, right

yep my DH works 24hr shifts and hopefully by the time we're due we will be in a house at least 1 hour away. i don't care where he is - he'd better get to me FAST
