Kindergarten/1st Gr. moms with birthdays coming up
What are you doing as far as inviting classmates ?
HE doesnt know anyone yet, inviting the whole class is out of the question. I heard at this age (K, 1) its common to invite "only boys" "Only girls".
Its 22 kids in his class, so figure 10-12boys, I dont know exactly how many yet. and figure a handful cant make it. so im figuring 5-6 would come.
advice anyone ?
we're having it at home, we have a decent size room for games, and hopefully nice weather to go outside. just a 2-3hr structured thing for the kids.

I think inviting only the boys is a good idea. 22 kids would be WAY to many.

We're inviting the whole class. The mailing list won't be out until after he has his party & I would have to push it until the next month.
I've priced everywhere under the sun & just booked a party today.

Maybe its not what you want to hear, but at this age, people usually invite the whole class. In my experience the limiting it to only boys/girls doesn't really start until third grade.
If you decide to do so, you will need the friendship list, becaue most schools will not allow the invitations to be given out at school unless the whole class is invited. If you write the teacher a note, in my experience (I have a kid with a fall birthday) they are usually willing to get it to you. Otherwise on open school night find the class parent and ask them for an early copy of the list.

We always invited the whole class, but then again all of his teachers were very strict and would not allow you to send in any invites unless you were inviting everyone. You might want to ask if they have a policy on it.

Re: Kindergarten/1st Gr. moms with birthdays coming up
thanks for the feedback everyone. Im all for inviting everyone, but I just dont want chaos with the limited space I have. I remember student teaching and the class (1st grade) had a trend of kids inviting only their gender. that's the first time I had heard of it.
We did get a note already saying only if the whole class is invited, it can be done through the teacher. which is totally understandable.
My cousin's son is now in 6th grade, and this past summer, a mom called them asking why her son wasnt invited to a birthday party 6th grade ! and I thought it ended somewhere along the line
thanks for the feedback.
